The top bosses at the FBI have confirmed their verdict of Jeffrey Epstein’s cause of death in black and white, as conspiracies around the convicted child sex offender have continued long after he passed.
In a bid to become more transparent, FBI director Kash Patel and deputy director Dan Bongino sat down with Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo to discuss some hot topics.
The 66-year-old was found dead in his cell at the Metropolitan Correction Center, in Manhattan, New York City, as a result of multiple failures from the institute.
According to a report released by the Justice Department’s Office of the Inspector General, several prison employees failed to conduct cell rounds and searches, as well as missing checks on Epstein and other factors that contributed to his death.
The report also mentioned the failure to assign the billionaire another cellmate after he was placed on suicide watch.
Now, in the interview that aired yesterday (May 18), Bartiromo touched on the subject: “You said Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide… people don’t believe it.”
Patel replied: “Well, I mean, listen – they have a right to their opinion, but as someone who has worked as a public defender, as a prosecutor who’s been in that prison system, who’s been in the metropolitan detention center, who’s been in segregated housing. You know a suicide when you see one, and that’s what that was.”
Before Bongino plainly added: “He killed himself.”
Taking to his own Twitter account, the deputy director went into more detail.

“I was asked about some of the details surrounding the Jeffrey Epstein case. I have reviewed the case. Jeffrey Epstein killed himself. There’s no evidence in the case file indicating otherwise,” he wrote.
“I’m not asking you to believe me, or not. I’m telling you what exists, and what doesn’t. If new evidence surfaces I’m happy to reevaluate.”
Yes, as the FBI has reported previously – Epstein died by way of suicide.
Bongino continued: “We were asked about FBI priorities. The Director and I told Maria that the President, the Attorney General, the Director, and I are absolutely committed to getting your FBI back to its roots. We will make your communities safer.
“Illegal immigration ops, child sex crimes investigations, 764 cases [an online group that allegedly coerces minors into creating sexually explicit material and harming themselves], and violent criminal fugitive apprehensions are all on our expanding radar
“And while America is enjoying the summer we are already planning a massive operation to clean up your streets.
“The counter-terror and counter-intell missions are critical and will continue at our customary high-tempo too. This is what you pay us for.”

Microsoft founder Bill Gates has admitted he feels ‘foolish’ for spending time with Jeffrey Epstein.
Convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein – who died by suicide in prison aged 66 in August 2019 – attempted to blackmail the Microsoft founder over an alleged intimate relationship with a Russian bridge player, a report by the Wall Street Journal revealed in 2023.
In 2013, it’s reported Epstein – who was awaiting trial on federal conspiracy and sex trafficking charges at the time of his death – tried to strong-arm Gates to invest in a multi-billion-dollar charitable fund.
When Gates refused, Epstein allegedly tried to use his knowledge of Gates’ 2010 affair with a Russian woman named Mila Antonova.
A spokesperson for Gates told PEOPLE at the time: “Mr. Gates met with Epstein solely for philanthropic purposes. Having failed repeatedly to draw Mr. Gates beyond these matters, Epstein tried unsuccessfully to leverage a past relationship to threaten Mr. Gates.
“Mr. Gates never had any financial dealings with Epstein. As Bill has said before, it was a mistake to have ever met him.”
And in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Gates has since doubled down on his comments, noting ‘in retrospect’ it was ‘foolish to spend any time with him,’ opening about why he even associated with Epstein the first place.

Gates met with Epstein on multiple occasions, The New York Times reporting on at least three taking place at Epstein’s Manhattan townhouse beginning in 2011.
In an interview published on January 24 and shared to YouTube, Gates explained: “He sort of got time with various people by spending time with other people.
“So yes, I think I was quite stupid. I thought it would help me with global health philanthropy. In fact, it failed to do that and it was just a huge mistake.”
In a 2011 email to colleagues, Gates is reported as writing about Epstein: “His lifestyle is very different and kind of intriguing although it would not work for me.”
A spokesperson for Gates later noted he was ‘in no way’ saying so in a way to ‘convey a sense of interest or approval,’ but was ‘referring only to the unique décor of the Epstein residence – and Epstein’s habit of spontaneously bringing acquaintances in to meet Mr Gates’.

When asked if the experience has made him ‘more wary of connections,’ Gates resolved: “Definitely. I mean are you kidding?”
And it’s not the only reflection Gates has been doing on his past, noting he ‘hopes as you get older, you’re more reflective and you have wisdom’.

Infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer ended up being brutally beaten to death by a fellow inmate – and his final words were pretty haunting.
Dahmer, who also known as the ‘Milwaukee Cannibal’, murdered at least 17 men and boys from 1978 to 1991.
He would drug and sexually assault his victims before killing them. Dahmer also admitted to cannibalising some of their body parts.
The serial killer was eventually convicted in 1992, having been sentenced to 16 terms of life imprisonment, and would later go on to meet his brutal end while in prison.

Christopher Scarver killed Dahmer by beating him to death while the two were housed at Columbia Correctional Facility in 1994.
Speaking to The New York Post in 2015, Scarver described what Dahmer was like in prison.
“He would put them in places where people would be.” he said. “He crossed the line with some people – prisoners, prison staff. Some people who are in prison are repentant, but he was not one of them.”
He continued to say: “I saw heated interactions between [Dahmer] and other prisoners from time to time,” adding: “There was no impression.”
Scarver initially had no intention of approaching Dahmer as he didn’t want to be the target of his horrific style of humor.
However, on November 28, 1994, Scarver, Dahmer and fellow inmate Jesse Anderson were tasked to clean the gymnasium in the prison, when there were no guards present.
Scarver would go on to claim that one of the pair poked him in the back to antagonize him, however, he said he ‘couldn’t tell which had done it’ – and that’s when he took a 20-inch metal bar off a piece of exercise equipment and cornered Dahmer.

Pulling out a newspaper clipping from his pocket, Scarver confronted him about his crimes.
He said: “I asked him if he did those things ’cause I was fiercely disgusted.
“He was shocked. Yes, he was… He started looking for the door pretty quick. I blocked him.”
A then-25-year-old Scarver beat 34-year-old Dahmer over the head twice with the bar and smashed his head against the wall.
According to The Mirror, before dying, Dahmer reportedly said: “I don’t care if I live or die. Go ahead and kill me.”
Scarver then went towards Anderson, who was working in a locker room.
He said: “He stopped for a second and looked around.
“He was looking to see if any officials were there. There were none. Pretty much the same thing [happened] – got his head put out.”
Scarver later received two additional life sentences for their murders, as well as his original life sentence for murdering someone from his workplace.

Virginia Giuffre, the campaigner who accused Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein of sexual abuse, has announced that she’s been given ‘four days to live’ after being involved in a car accident. Here’s everything we know so far.
Giuffre, an advocate for victims of sex trafficking who’d previously claimed she had been groomed by Epstein, shocked her followers yesterday (March 30) when she took to Instagram to share a picture of herself lying on what looks to be a hospital bed, covered in bruises around her eyes and jawline.
Alongside the image, the 41-year-old said the first few months of 2025 had marked ‘the worst start to a new year’, but said she didn’t want to ‘bore anyone with the details’.
She went on to reveal that she had been involved in a car crash, and the prognosis for her was not good.

What happened to Virginia Giuffre?
In her Instagram post, Giuffre went on to say that she had been in a car which was ‘slowing for a turn’ when her vehicle encountered a school bus driver.
It’s unclear where Giuffre was driving when the incident took place, or if she was the one behind the wheel, but she claimed the bus was driving ‘110km’ – 68mph.
“No matter what your car is made of it might as well be a tin can,” she said in the post.
In a statement cited by Sky News, a spokesperson for Giuffre said: “Virginia has been in a serious accident and is receiving medical care in the hospital. She greatly appreciates the support and well wishes people are sending.”
What injuries has Giuffre suffered?
Giuffre said in the post that she had suffered ‘kidney renal failure’ – a condition which occurs when one or both of your kidneys no longer work on their own.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, causes of kidney failure include diabetes, high blood pressure and acute kidney injuries – the latter of which seems the most likely culprit in Giuffre’s case.
Kidney failure can cause fatigue, nausea and vomiting, swelling, changes in how often you go to the bathroom, and brain fog, and if left untreated, it can worsen to the most severe stage, end-stage kidney disease, which is deadly.
After being examined by doctors, Giuffre said she was given ‘four days to live’.
What treatment could Giuffre get?
The two main treatments for kidney failure include dialysis and a kidney transplant, however, in her post Giuffre said she had been transferred to a specialist hospital in urology.
Urologists focus on surgical issues and conditions affecting the urinary tract.
What has Giuffre said about her health?
Though doctors seem determined not to give up on Giuffre, the campaigner said she is ‘ready to go’, but wants to see her ‘babies one last time’. Giuffre is a mother to three children.
“You know what they say about wishes,” she continued. “S**T in one hand and wish in the other & I guarantee it’s still going to be s**t at the end of the day.”
Signing off on her post, Giuffre added: “Thank you all for being the wonderful people of the world and for being a great part of my life.”

Arguably one of the USA’s most horrific serial killers, Jeffrey Dahmer will go down in history – and so will his brutal death.
Dahmer, who is the subject of various TV and film stories of his crimes including chilling Netflix series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, was convicted of the brutal killing of seventeen men and boys between 1978 and 1991, having admitted to eating the flesh of his victims.
After being sentenced to 16 terms of life imprisonment in both Wisconsin and Ohio, he was then beaten to death at Columbia Correctional Facility in Wisconsin by fellow inmate Christopher Scarver in 1994.

Dahmer, alongside another inmate, was cleaning the gym unattended by guards when he was attacked by Scarver, who confronted him over his crimes before bludgeoning him to death with a metal pole.
Scarver later received two additional life sentences for the murder of Dahmer and another inmate, as well as his original life sentence for murdering someone from his workplace.
Scarver’s son, also called Chris Scarver, opened up about the bizarre feeling of knowing his dad killed the infamous serial killer.
In a 2014 interview with CNN, he recalled how at first he didn’t fully comprehend the magnitude of what had happened.
He said: “I was about 10, and I saw it on TV. And that’s how I found out.
“[…] A big picture of him popped up, and I was just shocked at that point.”

(CNN)
He also added the significance that Dahmer’s name has, as he added: “When I was young, I didn’t know what it meant, obviously. But that name has been around me for my whole life.”
He was also asked by reporter Jean Casarez about whether or not his dad had been ‘set up’ by guards because he should not have been left alone with Dahmer and another inmate, to which Chris replied: “I think about that all the time. It makes me wonder if he even did it.”
Chris’ father is is currently serving three life sentences in Colorado and pleaded no contest to the murders of Dahmer and another inmate.
Yet Chris also credits his convicted murder father to helping him when he felt he was struggling.
He recalled: “I was actually starting to go down the wrong road, and that’s why I wrote [to] him. I didn’t know what to do, I needed some guidance.
“And I just told him everything I was going through, and how I felt about me and his relationship – all these built up years, all that pain that I had, I finally just let it go and just talked to him.”
His dad wrote back to him from jail as he told him: “Tough times don’t last. Tough people do. And you are the toughest kid I know.”
Dahmer’s last words have also been revealed, with his last chilling message not quite what you’d expect. According to The Mirror, before dying, Dahmer reportedly said: “I don’t care if I live or die. Go ahead and kill me.”
