A family have been left traumatised after the body of a mom who died on vacation is returned with her ‘heart missing.’
Beth Martin from the UK fell ill while travelling on the flight to Turkey on Sunday (April 27) which she thought at the time was food poisoning.
However, within hours of arriving in Istanbul, she began feeling ‘delirious’ and was rushed to hospital.
Tragically, the 28-year-old died just days later and her grief-stricken family say what transpired in that time was nothing short of a nightmare, made all the more horrifying when Beth’s body was reportedly returned home with her heart missing.

Her husband, Luke, who had accompanied Beth and their two young children on holiday, was allegedly accused of ‘poisoning’ his wife by the Turkish authorities and according to a GoFundMe for the family, was ‘banned’ from seeing her in the hospital.
On Tuesday (April 29), the family discovered Beth had been relocated to an intensive care unit due to ‘concerns with her heart.’
The family then claim they were kept in the dark about her health until Luke was given a statement that revealed Beth had died at around 9am.
The following day, Luke was apparently released from cops‘ suspicions and was allowed to see his wife for one minute in the morgue – from which he and a translator had to carry her body in a body bag through the hospital.
It was another lengthy battle to transport the mom’s body back to the UK and into the care of British coroners – which horrifyingly revealed her heart was missing.

The Turkish authorities have since addressed the case (GoFundMe)
The fundraiser alleges the Turkish hospital ‘removed it’ with ‘no explanation’ or consent.
“They have invaded her body and they have TAKEN her heart.
“Her heart. The piece of Beth that was more treasured more than any other. The piece of her that stopped for a moment when she heard her children’s first words. The piece of her that skipped a beat when she said ‘I do’ at her wedding. The piece of her that pumped viscously with pride whenever she was with her family.”
The family have been left desperately searching for answers about what happened, stating that they have endured ‘the deepest level of trauma.’
Now, the Turkish Ministry of Health has revealed Beth died of a ‘cardiac arrest due to multiple organ failures,’ according to the Daily Mail.
Officials have further stated she did not ‘undergo any surgical procedures’ during the preliminary autopsy at the hospital but did not confirm or deny if this took place when she was transferred to the Forensic Medicine Institute for a second autopsy.

The family’s lives have been turned upside down (GoFundMe)
The statement read: “The patient was recorded in the hospital records as a ‘forensic case’ in line with the statement of Martin’s wife that they may have been poisoned by a meal they ate in their country before the trip, and the initial findings.”
It added: “A preliminary autopsy [without incision] was performed at the hospital in accordance with the forensic case procedure and his wife’s request in this regard.
“The exact cause of Martin’s death could not be determined with the current findings in the preliminary autopsy, which was carried out with the participation of the Public Prosecutor and the forensic medicine doctor.
“Beth Martin did not undergo any surgical procedures during her treatment at the hospital, and there was no question of any organs being removed.”
Her family are considering if doctors at the hospital missed something or may have administered her with penicillin, which she was allergic to.
A medical negligence investigation has since been launched for The Marmara Pendik hospital over her unexplained death, the family added, while English coroners could take up to six months to determine what caused her organs to fail.
The GoFundMe has since raised £255,520 (roughly $346,076) at the time of writing and can be donated to here.

When dad-of-one Andrejs Krievkaln started to feel unwell, he thought it was just food poisoning – but it turned out to be something much more serious.
Andrejs, 35, was on vacation with his wife, Katerina Glazyrina, 41, and five-year-old daughter Lizzie in Sunny Beach, Bulgaria, when he started to feel sick.
He complained of a stomach ache, which they believed was food poisoning as Andrejs was otherwise in good health.
However, the pain continued and spread to his back and he ended up hospitalized in Burgas.
Andrejs was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis – a condition caused by a sudden inflammation of the pancreas which only leads to severe complications in one in five cases, and only a small percentage of those prove fatal, according to the NHS.

As per Mayo Clinic, symptoms of acute pancreatitis include: pain in the upper belly, pain in the upper belly that radiates to the back, stomach that’s tender to touch, fever, rapid pulse, upset stomach, and vomiting.
Katerina said Andrejs told her not to worry and he would be ‘home soon’ after he was hospitalized.
But after she left the hospital, Andrejs’ condition caused multiple organ failure and he tragically passed away on January 4, just 36 hours after first complaining of stomach pains.
Katerina said the day she found out that her husband had died was ‘the hardest day of [her] life’.
“I don’t know how I managed to get through it,” she told PA Real Life. “We were preparing to return to normal life after the Christmas time.
“It’s like you went on holiday and you can never come back to the life you’ve been building together.”

Katerina wants to raise awareness of the symptoms of pancreatitis. She also hopes to encourage parents to take out life insurance, saying: “You never know what events can happen and you don’t want to add financial pressure on top of the grief and many other complexities that surround loss.”
Katerina, originally from Russia, met Latvian-born Andrejs in London in 2006 while they were both students.
Following seven years of friendship, their relationship blossomed into love and they tied the knot at Hackney City Hall in 2013, before welcoming Lizzie into the world in 2019.
“He was a family man – that was his focus,” Katerina said.

Andrejs’ unexpected passing has shaken their community, who have since rallied together to raise thousands of pounds for Lizzie, with money also going towards Andrejs’ funeral.
“The community response has been amazing,” Katerina said.
“I never expected it in a million years. I’m just grateful, that’s all I can say.”
At the time of writing, over £13,000 ($16,800) has been raised via GoFundMe.

A young boy has been left orphaned after a freak accident claimed the lives of both his parents.
Ilya and Sophia Tsaruk, who lived in Washington, were vacationing in Maui, Hawaii, earlier this month without their 18-month-old son Logan, who was staying with his aunt and uncle at the time.
On Saturday (September 14), Maui County Fire Department received news of a couple in distress in the water ‘in the area along the north side of Ahihi-Kinau Natural Area Reserve’ and arrived to find an unresponsive 26-year-old female who has since been identified as Sophia.
Ilya, 25, was found shortly after and, while live saving measures were carried out by the emergency services on both parents, they were later pronounced dead.
“Resuscitation efforts proved to be unsuccessful, and both parties were pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS,” the fire department said in a statement, as per PEOPLE.
Adding to the tragedy, Sophia had been pregnant at the time of her death and was carrying a little girl.
Fire Department spokesperson, Chris Stankil, went on to say at a press conference that it’s believed the couple died as a result of a snorkelling accident, MailOnline reports. This is yet to be confirmed, however.

Family member Andrey Tupikov has set up a GoFundMe in the wake of the couple’s untimely passing to pay for their funeral, with any additional donations going towards Logan’s future now he’s been left orphaned.
“Yesterday, we lost a dear sister and brother, daughter and son, and beautiful niece, but we know that heaven received and gained the three of them with open arms,” Andrey wrote on the page.
“On September 14th, 2024, Ilya and Sophia Tsaruk tragically passed away together while on vacation in Maui. They were retrieved from the ocean by lifeguards who were unable to revive them after much effort.
“Sophia was pregnant with a baby girl, and they leave behind their 18-month-old baby, Logan, who was staying with his aunt and uncle at the time.”

The post went on: “Ilya and Sophia both loved the Lord and were always serving in the church and serving people around them. Sophia had the voice of an angel, and together with Ilya, they sang in a worship group in their church.”
The service is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, September 25.
At the time of writing, over $118,000 has been raised for the family.
Maui County Fire Department has been approached for comment on the matter.

The idea of death can be concerning for many people, but it was an exceptionally daunting experience for one woman who says she left her body completely before returning to it.
There has always been a fascination surrounding what happens to a person when they die.
The story of Atlanta, Georgia, woman Pam Reynolds Lowery has fascinated people for years as she appeared to ‘come back to life’.
The singer-song writer said that in 1991, at the age of 35, had a near-death experience during surgery and was considered clinically dead.
It was here that she had an unforgettable experience.
Lowery had to have a brain operation due to a large aneurysm. But due to the unlikely chance that she would survive the operation, the doctor suggested a standstill operation.

To do this, her body was lowered to 50 °F, her breathing and heartbeat stopped, and the blood drained from her head.
As well as this, her eyes were closed with tape and small ear plugs with speakers were placed in her ears. This emitted audible clicks that were used to check that her brain was non-responsive during the surgery.
Despite all of this, Pam stated that she lifted out of her body and even saw the surgeons performing on her skull. Reynold’s has recalled her experience and the bizarreness of the whole situation.
She recalled: “I was looking down at the body. I knew it was my body but I didn’t care. My vantage point was sort of sitting on the doctor’s shoulder. I remember the instrument in his hand, it looked like the handle of my electric toothbrush.
“I had assumed that they were going to open the skull with a saw. I had heard the term ‘saw’ but what I saw looked a lot more like a drill than a saw – he even had little bits that were kept in this case that looked like the case that my father stored his socket wrenches in when I was a child.”

Pam had also said that her late uncle acted as a guide in this odd plane of existence.
She said he convinced her and aided her in going back into her body, despite her reluctance, as she looked ‘lifeless’.
She added: “My uncle was the one who brought me back down to the body but then I got to where the body was and I looked at the thing and I for sure did not want to get in it.”
There have been skeptics of Reynolds’ story with some arguing it may be a case of Anesthesia Awareness, a condition where patients can recall details of surgery despite being under general anesthetic.

A mom has recalled the horrifying moment her son passed out on a rollercoaster at Disney World Florida.
Going to Disney is meant to be the stuff of dreams, but it quickly became a nightmare experience for Florida mother Christine Tagle.
On 21 September, Christine and the rest of her family boarded the Guardians of the Galaxy ride.
But just 20 seconds into the ride, her five-year-old son Ernesto passed out, and Christie was forced to finish the rollercoaster ride next to her son’s limp body after his heart stopped.
The mother took to the Walt Disney World Tips and Tricks Facebook group to share the horrifying story that thankfully had a happy ending.

Christine explained: “When the ride was over, I pulled him out screaming for help, the staff directed me to a hallway where I laid my son down and I began CPR – a few seconds later the staff shocked him with the AED.
“My husband ran out to find help and found a couple – a nurse and an EMT – who continued CPR, kept him stable as he began to have seizures until EMT services came.”
The mother then explained how her son is alive, thanking the ‘trained staff’ at Disney.
After also thanking the couple for saving her son’s life, Christine urged everyone who is not trained in CPR to do so.
She then issued a plea to try and find the couple, and with the help of the Disney community on Facebook, she was able to do so.
“Because of this group we have been able to locate and talk to the amazing Nurse and EMT who helped us, as well as cast members who were there, firefighters who helped on site and in the ER, Ambulance drivers and EMT, and Drs who were at our first ER,” Christine explained.

After many tests, it was discovered Ernesto suffers from a genetic heart condition known as catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia.
Ernesto’s dad has taken to Instagram to post some pictures of his son smiling in a hospital bed after the terrible ordeal.
The dad penned: “I’m happy to say that Ernesto is doing well after surgery with no signs of brain or heart damage. Even better this warrior is already home and already asking to ride his motorcycle.
“Get CPR certified or get a refresher course. You never know when you’ll need it,” the dad concluded.
