Jennifer Lopez has made it clear she isn’t looking for love following her divorce from Ben Affleck, the latter of who recently described their short-lived marriage as ’embarrassing’.
Having recently wowed on stage during her performance at the American Music Awards on Monday (May 26), the 55-year-old pop star was asked the biggest difference between her time hosting the ceremony 10 years ago and now.
“I don’t know? I would say, you know, I pretty much remain the same [her music style],” J-Lo explained to reporter Lauren Herbert for Access Hollywood, before touching on how she’s in a good state of mind now – seven months on from her split with Affleck.
She continued: “I do evolve and grow, in a way I think now I’m much more happy than I was even then. I always enjoyed my work, but now I’m at a place in my life where I feel like I can.

“There was always so much kind of angst with everything before, it’s like, ‘we got to be this, and we got to be that, and we got to do this, and we got to top this and do that’, and now I just feel like I just want to enjoy it, I just want to enjoy it and be in the moment.
“And, yeah, so that’s, I think that’s the biggest difference. Yeah, a little more happy and at peace.”
Lopez officially filed for divorce in August 2024, just over two years after they wed in July 2022, but the singer has since explained that they initially separated on April 26, 2024 for the second time, with the pair having first dated between 2002 and 2004.
J-Lo was further asked by Herbert on Monday whether she was going to play the field with comedian and actor Tiffany Haddish – who told Access Hollywood that she intended to.

Lopez replied: “She said that to me! I said, ‘girl, I’m not looking for no man’. I’m happy right now, I’m not trying to ruin it. Okay?”
It comes after Affleck told GQ that he was ’embarrassed’ by their break-up.
“I guess there’s a tendency to look at break-ups and want to identify root causes or something,” he explained.
“But honestly, like I said, the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting.
“Yeah, there’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue. The truth is, when you talk to somebody, ‘Hey, what happened?’, well, there is no: ‘This is what happened’.
“It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do. And as you get older, this is true for me, I assume it’s true for most people, there is no ‘So-and-so did this’ or ‘This was the big event’.
“It’s really, it sounds more like a couple’s therapy session, which—you would tune out of someone else’s couple’s therapy after a while.”
Before adding: “For one thing, you start going, ‘Okay, clearly this person has got these issues.
“Clearly they have these issues’, and the reason I don’t want to share that, is just sort of embarrassing. It feels vulnerable.”

Ben Affleck opened up with a wholesome comment about his ex-wife Jennifer Lopez and their respective kids as he appeared on the red carpet for his new movie, The Accountant 2.
Affleck spoke about the relationship between himself, Lopez and each of their children from the Los Angeles premier of his new action-packed flick, in which he returns as Christian Wolff – aka The Accountant – alongside his on-screen brother, Jon Bernthal.
Affleck brought along with him his three children, Violet Anne, Fin, and Samuel, who he shares with his first wife, actor Jennifer Garner, but Lopez’s own children, twins Max and Emme, were also in attendance at the event.
Lopez shares her twins, who are 17 years old, with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony.

Affleck expressed his delight at having all the children there to support him, telling Entertainment Tonight: “The kids are here, Jen’s kids are here. I’m very, very excited. I love when all the kids come out.”

The Gone Girl actor went on to share his praise for Lopez, who he split from in August 2024 after they married two years earlier.
He said: “Listen, I don’t read the stuff online much, and sometimes I get the sense that people perpetuate this idea of … they wanna find something negative to talk about. For the record, Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, great ongoing relationship with them.
“I love her kids. They are wonderful,” he said. “She is enormously important, tremendous person of a lot of integrity who I adore and am grateful to.”

“I’m thrilled that the kids are here with me,” Affleck continued. “That’s the kind of thing where the relationship that you have with children like that is a joy in my life. Those kids are amazing and I’m glad that this is a movie they want to come to.”
Affleck’s comments come after he previously spoke about his split with Lopez in an interview with GQ, in which he insisted there was ‘no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue’.
“It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do,” he said, adding: “For one thing, you start going, ‘Okay, clearly this person has got these issues. Ben Affleck has spoken about how grateful he is for his ex-wife Jennifer Garner as he broke his silence for the first time on his most recent split from Jennifer Lopez.
The Gone Girl star opened up about his relationships in a new interview with GQ, which comes as he prepares to star in the sequel to his 2016 movie, The Accountant.
Arriving two months after Affleck finalized his divorce with Lopez, the interview saw the actor open up about his recent split and stress that Lopez is ‘somebody [he has] a lot of respect for’.

“Yeah, there’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue,” he said of the divorce. “The truth is, when you talk to somebody, ‘Hey, what happened?’, well, there is no: ‘This is what happened’. It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do.”
He added: “For one thing, you start going, ‘Okay, clearly this person has got these issues. Clearly they have these issues’, and the reason I don’t want to share that, is just sort of embarrassing. It feels vulnerable.”
Amid the split with Lopez, Affleck has continued to co-parent the three children he shares with his former wife, Garner, who he was married to from 2005-2018.
Photos of the pair show them still spending time together, and Affleck acknowledged that while every detail of his day-to-day life might be of interest to his fans, the most important thing to him is that he and his family know the truth of the situation.
“Look, I know what’s going on in my life,” he told GQ. “And also, really more importantly, my kids know. We used to have a thing, my ex-wife and I, when they would see something (on a magazine) on a supermarket stand, we would say, well, ‘You know this isn’t always true because if it were, you would have 15 brothers or sisters or whatever the number of stories is where they said that your mom was pregnant.”

Affleck continued: “I’m really lucky that I have a really good co-parent and partner in Jennifer Garner, the kids’ mom, who’s wonderful and great and we work together well. It’s more of a headache than anything else and there certainly are worse things.”
In spite of the headlines surrounding Affleck’s life and relationships, the actor insisted that his life is ‘actually pretty drama-free’.
He continued: “I’m sure in your mind you’re thinking, Oh, well, you just got divorced. That’s not drama-free. And I understand that instinct, but all of this is pretty adult, and for all the sensational stuff that gets written, if somebody sat down and talked to me about it, and I said, ‘Well, this is really the experience,’ their eyes would glaze over with boredom.”

Jennifer Lopez has officially filed for divorce from Ben Affleck.
The Hustlers star filed legal documents on Tuesday (August 20) in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, which have been seen by numerous news outlets, such as the BBC.
According to TMZ, they were not filed by a lawyer but by pro per, which means Lopez did it herself without an attorney.
Moreover, Lopez listed their date of separation as April 26, 2024, as per Variety.

The documents filed also reportedly don’t indicate whether or not there is a prenuptial agreement between the couple, the BBC reports.
This would mean that whatever earnings Affleck and Lopez made during their two years of marriage would be considered community property.
The documents also allegedly reveal that Lopez waived spousal support and is asking the judge to deny Affleck such support as well.
Affleck and Lopez were one of Hollywood’s biggest couples in the noughties, having met in 2002 on the set of 2003’s Gigli, in which they both starred.
They were quickly dubbed ‘Bennifer’ by the press and soon got engaged the same year, however, the wedding was called off in 2004 – and they eventually called it quits on their relationship.

In 2021, the pair rekindled their romance and eventually tied the knot in a Las Vegas ceremony on July 16, 2022.
They proceeded to have a traditional wedding ceremony in Savannah, Georgia on August 20, 2022.
Lopez also seems to have filed the divorce papers on the ceremony’s two-year anniversary, CNN reports.
The pair had been at the epicenter of divorce rumors for some time, though nothing was confirmed until now.
This marks Lopez’s fourth marriage – with her previous marriage being to singer Marc Anthony – and Affleck’s second.
His first marriage was to actor and Daredevil co-star Jennifer Garner, with whom he has three children.

Fans of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck continue to speculate about their relationship status after the pair were spotted on a recent outing almost kissing – but not quite.
After initially calling off their engagement in 2003, Lopez and Affleck – also known as Bennifer – delighted millennials everywhere when they got back together and married in 2022.

Two years on, the couple have found themselves at the center of speculation as insiders have claimed their marriage is ‘over’.
One person with knowledge of the couple alleged Affleck had moved out of the home he shared with Lopez, though they have been seen out together since.
The pair were seen on an outing with Affleck’s mom, Christopher Anne Boldt, in Santa Monica on Sunday (June 2), though they didn’t do anything to dispel the rumors of trouble between them.
Images of the couple showed them leaning towards each other for a kiss, but instead puckering their lips just next to one another’s cheeks, rather than actually making contact.

According to TMZ, Affleck acknowledged paparazzi watching the couple as he gave a thumbs up while walking with Lopez.
The pair walked arm-in-arm for a moment, but they didn’t appear to be cosying up to one another.
Footage of the scene was shared on X, where one user wrote: “Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck share VERY awkward air kiss amid marriage turmoil rumors.”
The sighting came after Lopez announced the decision to cancel her tour so she could take ‘time off to be with her children, family and close friends’.
“I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down,” the singer wrote as she shared the news in her newsletter. “Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary.
“I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time.”

Lopez previously shut down questions about her relationship with Affleck when she was confronted during a press event for her new Netflix film, Atlas.
During the event, a journalist asked whether rumors of a divorce were ‘real’.
“What is the truth?” they asked. “Para le press le Mexicana [for the Mexican press], what is the truth of the situation?”
Lopez refused to give in to the questions as she responded: “You know better than that.”
