A teenage TikTok star has reportedly been shot dead by a ‘rejected’ 22-year-old man.
Sana Yousaf, who has more than a million followers on social media, had just turned 17 when she died of a fatal gunshot wound in her home in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital, on Monday (June 2).
Pakistani police confirmed the teenager had died on Tuesday, reports CBS News, and they have since arrested a man that they say had spent hours lingering outside her home before her alleged ‘gruesome’ murder.
Islamabad police chief Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said in a news conference that the 22-year-old man had been turned down by Sana multiple times and was arrested within 20 hours of the teen’s death.

The teen posted family-friendly content (@sanayousaf22/Instagram)
Rizvi said: “It was a case of repeated rejections. The boy was trying to reach out to her time and again.”
“It was a gruesome and cold-blooded murder,” he added.
The teen was a popular content creator on social media, particularly on TikTok where she amassed a following of more than 800,000 followers for her popular videos like lip-sync clips, skincare advice, beauty promo videos and her fashionable outfits.
As well as posting videos of cars and products, the youngster was also seen having fun with her friends, eating pizza and sharing jokes with her fans.

Tragically, the last post Sana shared was of her cutting a birthday cake under an arch of pink balloons in celebration of her 17th. That video was posted just hours before she died.
Dozens paid tribute to the late star in the comments of the video, writing ‘Rest in Peace’ and ‘Justice for Sana.’
“This is so awful. A literal 17 year old with so much innocence, killed for what?” said one fan.
“Can’t believe this,” another said with a broken heart emoji. “May her soul rest in peace.”
A third wrote: “Nobody is safe in this country! This is so heartbreaking!!”

The harrowing incident comes as violence against women and girls in Pakistan is particularly acute, where last year more than 24,000 cases of abductions and kidnappings were reported across the country according to a recent study.
The researchers add there were more than 2,000 cases of domestic violence, more than 500 cases of ‘honor killings’ and over 5,000 cases of rape reported in 2024, though conviction rates remain abysmal at below two percent for each of the crimes.
UNFPA Pakistan further reveals 28 percent of women aged between 15 to 49 have experienced physical violence, six percent have suffered sexual violence and 34 percent of married women have experienced physical, sexual and/or emotional violence from their spouse.
Instances where women are attacked after rejecting a man’s advances of marriage proposals are also not uncommon, CBS News adds.

A TikTok star has filed a lawsuit after her three-year-old son tragically drowned.
Emilie Kiser, a social media influencer who build a following of more than four million fans about her parenting and family life, tragically lost her toddler following a sudden accident.
The three-year-old, Trigg, fell victim to a drowning incident in a pool in the family’s Arizona home on May 12, roughly 25 miles from Phoenix.
While paramedics performed life-saving CPR on the toddler and rushed him to Chandler Regional Hospital, from which he was taken by air to Phoenix Children’s Hospital, he tragically died six days later on May 18.

Now, the family have filed a lawsuit as of May 27 against Maricopa County public offices in a bid to keep records of her son’s death private.
The lawsuit details the mom’s requests to prevent the release of any further details of her son’s death, calling it a ‘profound invasion of privacy’.
“Emilie and her family desperately want to grieve in private, but sadly, the public will not let them. Trigg’s death has become a media frenzy,” the suit states.
“Disclosure of graphic or intimate death-related records causes renewed trauma to surviving family members and violates their right to grieve privately.”

Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner is also reportedly on board with keeping the records private, confirming to NBC News that it had ‘worked with the family to place a seal on the record’ once staff became aware ‘the family was pursuing a court order to prevent the release of these records’.
Kiser’s lawyers have also posted a public statement, describing the death as ‘heartbreaking’ and ‘accidental’ while the 26-year-old mom is enduring ‘a parent’s worst nightmare right now’.
The statement as per Rolling Stone continues: “Emilie is trying her best to be there for her surviving son, two-month-old Theodore. But every day is a battle.”

Kiser and her husband Brady Chapman welcomed the baby, nicknamed Teddy, in March.
Chandler Police also issued a statement about the tragedy, stating: “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the child’s family and loved ones during this unimaginable time.
“The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident remains ongoing. This is still an open investigation.
“Out of respect for the family’s privacy, we will not be releasing additional details until the investigation is closed,” as per NBC10 Philadelphia.

A teenage influencer tragically plunged to her death while filming a parasailing promo after apparently becoming ‘panicked’.
The glamorous 19-year-old model from Novi Sad, Serbia, had reportedly been hired to make a mini promo movie for a parasailing company on May 28 when disaster struck.
It is believed Tijana Radonjic had no experience of the sport and had been hired by an unnamed firm in Budva, Montenegro, to boost tourism to the region for the holiday season.
Budva is renowned for its idyllic sandy beaches with clear blue sea and a prominent nightlife, making the so-called ‘Hawaii of Montenegro’ a tourist hotspot.

The movie was meant to show Tijana in a bikini soaring over the Budva Riviera on a parasail that was being towed by a speed boat.
Witnesses told local news media that the teen looked relaxed when she was strapped into the safety harness, and the firm said she had been given adequate safety training.
However, disturbing footage suggests the model suffered a panic attack while she was mid-air.
Tijana could be seen ripping off her life jacket, pulling on the cables and unbuckling her safety harness, after which she tried to wriggle free of her leg straps while soaring more than 150 feet over the Adriatic.

Spectators say they could hear her panicked screams as she shouted: “Put me down! Put me down!”
Moments later, she then came loose from the canvas seat, toppled upside down and plunged head-first into the ocean.
The young woman’s lifeless body was then retrieved by paramedics who took her to the marina before emergency services tragically declared she had died from the 50-metre fall.
The authorities have not ruled out that the woman had attempted to take her own life, reports The Sun.
However, Tijana’s heartbroken family are now disputing the claim that she caused her own death.

Local police and safety officials are now reportedly investigating the incident.
Mirko Krdzic, the owner of the parasailing company, said: “I am sorry for the death of the young girl. I hope to meet her parents to express my condolences in person.
“We are all in shock after the accident that happened.”
The owner added: “I do not know exactly what happened. She did not show any fear of flying, she underwent training, after which the tragedy followed.

“Technical inspections of all the equipment are underway, and the results of the autopsy are awaited.”
Tijanoa’s family and friends have also paid tribute to the teen on social media.
One relative wrote: “You were brave to try to save your young life, but unfortunately, you didn’t succeed.”
A lifelong friend added: “If I could choose who to spend my childhood with, I would choose you again.”

A prank being played by three teenagers resulted in one of their deaths when a homeowner allegedly fired a gun at them.
Earlier this week, police confirmed that 18-year-old Michael Bosworth Jr. died after succumbing to injuries he received from being shot.
Police say on May 3 at around 3 am, the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia received a call for a residential burglary in progress where shots had been fired.
The incident is believed to be a social media prank that went awry.
Authorities stated: “Deputies responded to the area of Mckenzie Lane and discovered that two individuals had sustained gunshot wounds and a third individual was unharmed.
“Michael Bosworth, Jr. (18) was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The second injured individual is a juvenile, who was treated for minor injuries and released. The third involved individual was also a juvenile and will remain unnamed.”
According to an ABC 7 News report, the two surviving teenagers spoke to authorities and told their side of the story, insisting it was part of a prank.
They told police they were playing a prank called ‘ding-dong ditch’, where they ring doorbells and run away before the person home can answer. They added they had done this to a few homes and were hoping to upload it online as part of a social media trend.
Police later gave an update on Facebook to confirm that they had arrested the homeowner and have charged him following the shooting.
The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office Facebook page stated: “Tyler Chase Butler (27) of Spotsylvania County was arrested for Murder 2nd degree, Malicious Wounding and 2 counts of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. He is being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on no bond.”

Bosworth was a senior at Massaponax High School and the incident occurred only a few hours before the school’s prom.
His girlfriend wore the pink bow tie he’d planned to wear on her arm to the prom, which she was forced to attend alone.
She said in an Instagram tribute to Bosworth, which she shared with the Washington Post: “You were the best boyfriend, person, brother, son and friend that anyone could ask for
“I’m so glad I got to share my life with you and learn to love you and cheer you on through everything because you are one of a kind.”
A statement issued by school district said they are set to provide support for any of the students who may be impacted by the event.
The statement read: “School counselors will be on site at the event to provide support as needed. Also, when students return to school on Monday, our counseling staff and additional division support team members will be available to provide support to our students and staff as needed.
“If your child needs support, please contact the school so that we can provide assistance. Our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time.”

A 22-year-old woman died suddenly after collapsing while performing barbell squats at the gym.
Ariatna Lizeth Mata Esparza had been working out her legs at a gym in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico when she suddenly collapsed.
Paramedics rushed to the scene but found that Ariatna did not have any vital signs, and the 22-year-old was tragically declared dead at the scene.

Ariatna worked as a teacher is a nursery and had just taken an exam to move into a new job.
She had been expecting to receive the results of the exam on the day that she died.
An animal lover, Ariatna frequently made posts online about dogs which were up for adoption.
In her final social media post, she wrote: “It makes me laugh when people say ‘don’t humanize your dog’, when he’s the one humanizing me.”
A post-mortem examination found that Ariatna had died from a condition called anoxaemia – a condition where there is not enough oxygen circulating in the blood.

The anoxaemia was also followed by an acute, non-traumatic cerebral haemorrhage and ‘generalised thromboembolism’.
A thromboembolism is the technical terminology for a blood clot which obstructs the flow of blood through the body.
Thromboembolism can have a number of causes, but people are generally most at risk following surgery, injury, or inflammation and infection.
Experts have also said that anoxaemia can be made worse by increased exertion or effort.
This could suggest that Ariatna’s collapse was connected to the weight that she had been squatting, though this has not been confirmed.
Other gym-goers were left horrified when she fell to the ground in front of them, seemingly out of nowhere.

In a post on social media Ariatna’s mother Selene Esparza paid tribute to her daughter, writing: “My princess, my girl, you’ve gone and left us with empty souls and shattered hearts.
“Fly high, my love, very high. Here on earth, you were already a light guiding those who crossed your path, and now you are a light illuminating the angels. I love you, my princess.”
Ariatna had previously been at the ‘Escuela Normal’, a school for training teachers, at Torreón.
A statement and tribute from the institution’s director Dr María Angélica Vela Zul said (translated): “With profound sadness the educational community at the Escuela Normal de Torreón mourns the regrettable death of our dear ex alumnus.
“We extend our most sincere condolences to the family. Her life was a blessing and her memory will be a refuge of love and strength.”
