The inmate who killed cannibalistic serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer has explained his motives behind doing so.
Despite confessing to murdering the 34-year-old, Christopher Scarver believes he may have been set up by prison guards as he was left alone with the Milwaukee man
In February 1992, Dahmer was sentenced to 16 life terms in prison following his conviction of brutally murdering 17 men and boys, between 1978 and 1991 – and even admitting to have eaten the flesh of his victims.
However, just two years into his sentence at Columbia Correctional Facility, in Wisconsin, he was bludgeoned to death by Scarver – who was just 25 at the time.
Scarver had never interacted with Dahmer and had only watched him from afar, but had grown ‘fiercely disgusted’ by his crimes, having kept a newspaper article about him in his pocket which detailed how Dahmer dismembered and sometimes ate his victims.
Things escalated quickly on November 28, 1994, when Dahmer angered Scarver while he and a third inmate called Jesse Anderson were in the prison’s gym.

The three of them were then led to clean the bathrooms by prison officers, but without handcuffs on, and left to carry out their duties.
Scarver explained that he had grabbed a mop and was filling a bucket up with water when he felt a prod on his back.
“I turned around, and [Dahmer] and Jesse were kind of laughing under their breath,” a 45-year-old Scarver told the New York Post back in 2015.
“I looked right into their eyes, and I couldn’t tell which had done it.”
When they finished and went their separate ways, Scarver followed Dahmer who was heading to the locker room, and having picked up a 20-inch metal bar that weighed five pounds from the gym, he confronted the serial killer with his newspaper article.
“I asked him if he did those things ’cause I was fiercely disgusted. He was shocked. Yes, he was,” Scarver explained.

“He started looking for the door pretty quick. I blocked him.”
Scarver added: “He ended up dead. I put his head down.”
After beating Dahmer to death, he then went looking for Anderson who was serving a life sentence for murdering his wife.
“He [Anderson] stopped for a second and looked around,” Scarver remembered.
“He was looking to see if any officials were there. There were none. Pretty much the same thing [happened] – got his head put out.”
Scarver, who pleaded no contest to the murders, and is currently serving three life sentences in Colorado, doesn’t think it was an accident that he had been left alone with Dahmer, claiming prison officials had wanted him dead.
“They had something to do with what took place,” he said, adding that the guards had disappeared just before the attack.

Infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer ended up being brutally beaten to death by a fellow inmate – and his final words were pretty haunting.
Dahmer, who also known as the ‘Milwaukee Cannibal’, murdered at least 17 men and boys from 1978 to 1991.
He would drug and sexually assault his victims before killing them. Dahmer also admitted to cannibalising some of their body parts.
The serial killer was eventually convicted in 1992, having been sentenced to 16 terms of life imprisonment, and would later go on to meet his brutal end while in prison.

Christopher Scarver killed Dahmer by beating him to death while the two were housed at Columbia Correctional Facility in 1994.
Speaking to The New York Post in 2015, Scarver described what Dahmer was like in prison.
“He would put them in places where people would be.” he said. “He crossed the line with some people – prisoners, prison staff. Some people who are in prison are repentant, but he was not one of them.”
He continued to say: “I saw heated interactions between [Dahmer] and other prisoners from time to time,” adding: “There was no impression.”
Scarver initially had no intention of approaching Dahmer as he didn’t want to be the target of his horrific style of humor.
However, on November 28, 1994, Scarver, Dahmer and fellow inmate Jesse Anderson were tasked to clean the gymnasium in the prison, when there were no guards present.
Scarver would go on to claim that one of the pair poked him in the back to antagonize him, however, he said he ‘couldn’t tell which had done it’ – and that’s when he took a 20-inch metal bar off a piece of exercise equipment and cornered Dahmer.

Pulling out a newspaper clipping from his pocket, Scarver confronted him about his crimes.
He said: “I asked him if he did those things ’cause I was fiercely disgusted.
“He was shocked. Yes, he was… He started looking for the door pretty quick. I blocked him.”
A then-25-year-old Scarver beat 34-year-old Dahmer over the head twice with the bar and smashed his head against the wall.
According to The Mirror, before dying, Dahmer reportedly said: “I don’t care if I live or die. Go ahead and kill me.”
Scarver then went towards Anderson, who was working in a locker room.
He said: “He stopped for a second and looked around.
“He was looking to see if any officials were there. There were none. Pretty much the same thing [happened] – got his head put out.”
Scarver later received two additional life sentences for their murders, as well as his original life sentence for murdering someone from his workplace.

Arguably one of the USA’s most horrific serial killers, Jeffrey Dahmer will go down in history – and so will his brutal death.
Dahmer, who is the subject of various TV and film stories of his crimes including chilling Netflix series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, was convicted of the brutal killing of seventeen men and boys between 1978 and 1991, having admitted to eating the flesh of his victims.
After being sentenced to 16 terms of life imprisonment in both Wisconsin and Ohio, he was then beaten to death at Columbia Correctional Facility in Wisconsin by fellow inmate Christopher Scarver in 1994.

Dahmer, alongside another inmate, was cleaning the gym unattended by guards when he was attacked by Scarver, who confronted him over his crimes before bludgeoning him to death with a metal pole.
Scarver later received two additional life sentences for the murder of Dahmer and another inmate, as well as his original life sentence for murdering someone from his workplace.
Scarver’s son, also called Chris Scarver, opened up about the bizarre feeling of knowing his dad killed the infamous serial killer.
In a 2014 interview with CNN, he recalled how at first he didn’t fully comprehend the magnitude of what had happened.
He said: “I was about 10, and I saw it on TV. And that’s how I found out.
“[…] A big picture of him popped up, and I was just shocked at that point.”

(CNN)
He also added the significance that Dahmer’s name has, as he added: “When I was young, I didn’t know what it meant, obviously. But that name has been around me for my whole life.”
He was also asked by reporter Jean Casarez about whether or not his dad had been ‘set up’ by guards because he should not have been left alone with Dahmer and another inmate, to which Chris replied: “I think about that all the time. It makes me wonder if he even did it.”
Chris’ father is is currently serving three life sentences in Colorado and pleaded no contest to the murders of Dahmer and another inmate.
Yet Chris also credits his convicted murder father to helping him when he felt he was struggling.
He recalled: “I was actually starting to go down the wrong road, and that’s why I wrote [to] him. I didn’t know what to do, I needed some guidance.
“And I just told him everything I was going through, and how I felt about me and his relationship – all these built up years, all that pain that I had, I finally just let it go and just talked to him.”
His dad wrote back to him from jail as he told him: “Tough times don’t last. Tough people do. And you are the toughest kid I know.”
Dahmer’s last words have also been revealed, with his last chilling message not quite what you’d expect. According to The Mirror, before dying, Dahmer reportedly said: “I don’t care if I live or die. Go ahead and kill me.”

Ariana Grande has been under fire for controversial comments she has made about Jeffrey Dahmer.
Many of us may have considered who we would invite to our dream dinner date or dinner party.
There are, of course, several common answers.
A lot of people might bring up Oscar Wilde, famous for his wit and humour, or perhaps Marilyn Monroe.
It’s a choice that could say a lot about a person, whether they want to meet someone famous or maybe someone less well known but of great personal importance.
And if you’re a famous person in your own right, you’d probably want to have some PR-friendly answers ready just in case the question comes up.
But when the question did come up for Ariana Grande, she opened up rather frankly about who she would want to invite.

Grande appeared on the Podcrushed podcast and made a rather surprising admission about her childhood.
In an unusual move, Grande shared that she would want to have dinner with serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.
She explained that this was because, as a child, she said that she had developed crushes on several serial killers.
“I was infatuated with serial killers when I was younger,” she told Podcrushed.
Look, we’ve all been guilty of having a problematic fave at some point – but that’s a different level!
Grande went on to explain: “Years ago, before the Dahmer series, I was in a Q&A with young fans. With a parent, someone said, ‘If you could have dinner with anyone living or dead, who would it be?’
“And I was like, ‘Oh, honey, you’re so cute. Um, mom and dad, is it okay if I give the real answer?’”

In fairness, parents could hardly say ‘no you have to give the PR answer’ after such an open question, so they said yes.
So, Grande gave a candid answer to the fan, telling them: “Jeffrey Dahmer’s pretty fascinating. I think I would have loved to have met him, maybe with like a third party or something.
“But I have questions. And the parents were like, ‘We’ll explain it later, sweetheart.'”
And it’s fair to say that her choice went down about as well as you might expect.
One person criticised the remarks, commenting: “Unless the question is ‘which serial killer would you have dinner with’ and you have a gun to your head, there’s no damn reason to say this.”
Another said the remarks were ‘horribly insulting’ to Dahmer’s victims and their families.
A third remarked: “Ain’t nothing cute, edgy, cool, or okay with saying this.”

The mom of a Jeffrey Dahmer victim has criticized Ariana Grande for her ‘sick’ comments about the serial killer.
Grande appeared on the Podcrushed podcast on June 12 to discuss her life and career, however, one moment in particular stuck out in the interview to people.
The Wicked star recalled a moment when she was asked who would be her ‘dream dinner date’.
Many of us may have been asked – or even thought about – this at some point.
Perhaps you’d like to have a conversation with someone as knowledgeable as David Attenborough, or famous historic figures like Oscar Wilde or Abraham Lincoln.
And you would think that if you were a celebrity you would have a PR-friendly answer ready – should the occasion arise.
However, in what some have called a ‘weird’ move, Grande listed Dahmer as someone she’d like to have dinner with.
Recalling the event, she told the Podcrushed hosts: “I was infatuated with serial killers when I was younger.

“It was in between me being Cat [on teen sitcom Sam & Cat] and pop stuff, so it was like a younger group, and they were with parents, and someone said, ‘If you could have dinner with anyone living or dead, who would it be?'”
“I was like, ‘Oh honey, you’re so cute’.”
Grande then revealed that she had asked her parents if she could give the ‘real’ answer.
She continued to say: “They were like, ‘Sure, what’s the answer?’ and I was like, ‘I mean, Jeffrey Dahmer is pretty fascinating.’
“I think I would have loved to have met him. You know, maybe with a third party or someone involved. But I have questions.”
Needless to say, Grande’s admission hasn’t gone down very well, as the mother of one of Dahmer’s victims, Tony Hughes, has since spoken out about her comments.

Hughes, who was deaf and non-verbal, was 31 years old when he was killed by Dahmer in 1991.
Shirley Hughes told TMZ on Thursday (June 27): “To me, it seems like she’s sick in her mind.
“It’s not fancy or funny to say you would have wanted to do dinner with him.
“It’s also not something you should say to young people, which she says she did.”
According to the publication, Tony’s sister, Barbara, also said she’d like to see an apology from the singer, claiming that her remarks glamorize Dahmer.
Between 1978 and 1991, Dahmer murdered, dismembered and cannibalised 17 men and boys.
Fourteen of Dahmer’s victims were men of color.
The serial killer was later sentenced to 16 life terms before being beaten to death in prison in 1994.
