Former figure skater Tonya Harding shocks viewers in rare social media video

Controversial figure skater Tonya Harding has taken to social media to ‘catch up’ with anyone who ‘remembers’ her.

Harding – the subject of 2017 film starring Margot Robbie I, Tonya – is a former figure skater who became embroiled in controversy when her ex-husband orchestrated a physical attack on one of her competitors ahead of the United States Figure Skating Championships.

The 54-year-old has since ‘figured out how to make’ a Twitter account and has called out to fans.

Harding took to Twitter on January 29, noting she’d ‘finally figured out how to make an account’ on the social media platform.

In the video, she says: “Hey everyone, I’m Tonya Harding. I’m on X, oh my God I’m so excited! Happy new year, join me there and let’s chat it up. Love you, God bless. Bye!”

The caption reads: “Hi everyone! […] I’m very excited to reconnect with you all (if anyone remembers me) With love, Tonya.”

And it’s not taken long for people to flood to the post to weigh in.

One Twitter user said: “We ain’t forgot what you done. #NeverForgetNancy.”

“Good luck! Break a leg,” another added.

A third commented: “I’m sure you’re a very different person however many decades later but be aware most Twitter people are not big on the forgive-and-forget thing.”

Many social media users’ responses refer to fellow figure skater Nancy Kerrigan who was struck in the leg with a baton at the Cobo Arena in Detroit, Michigan on January 6, 1994, just days before the United States Figure Skating Championships – in which Harding was her main rival.

The attack was conducted by Shane Stant and Derrick Smith who were employed by Jeff Gillooly – then-husband of Harding – alongside Shawn Eckardt.

Harding initially denied knowledge of the attack however later accepted a plea deal to ensure no further prosecution – pleading guilty to conspiracy to hinder prosecution for her role in the attack on Kerrigan and being sentenced to three years of probation, a $100,000 fine and community service.

The attack took place ahead of the 1994 United States Figure Skating Championships and Winter Olympics and while the injury to her lower right thigh prevented her from competing in the US Figure Skating Championships, Kerrigan was able to perform in the Olympics.

Harding was later banned for life from taking part in any events run by the United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) and stripped of her 1994 title.

Novak Djokovic didn’t do a post-match interview at the Australian Open after hearing the journalist’s comments

A Channel 9 journalist has apologized for ‘any disrespect’ they caused after making several comments about Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open.

During a live broadcast on Friday (January 17), Channel Nine’s Tony Jones reported on Novak Djokovic’s fans chanting behind him. However, his comments led to backlash from the professional tennis player himslef, as well as social media users.

What comments did Tony Jones make about Novak Djokovic?

Reflecting on the chanting as ‘extraordinary,’ the reporter then chanted himself: “Novak, he’s overrated, Novak’s a has-been, Novak kick him out. Boy I’m glad they can’t hear me.”

BBC reports Djokovic didn’t return to do an on-court interview on Sunday as a result of his comments. The 24-time Grand Slam champion then stated in a news conference that Jones had created a ‘very awkward situation’.

When asked why he didn’t do a post-match interview, Djokovic reportedly said: “A journalist who works for Channel 9 in Australia made a mockery of Serbian fans & made insulting & offensive comments towards me. Neither him or Channel 9 issued an apology.”

Former world number one tennis player Boris Becker tweeted: “That’s actually very disturbing behaviour from a TV broadcaster who works for Channel 9 …does he still have a job for the rest of the tournament?”

Although, another Twitter user argued: “I’m no Tony Jones supporter but that’s just Australian humour Boom Boom, he is chanting the opposite of the Djokovic supporters and then turns back and says ‘glad they can’t hear me’. Just trying to be funny … granted, it’s not very funny.”

And the journalist has since responded.

Jones said on Channel Nine earlier today (January 20): “I’m disappointed it come to this because the comments were made on the news on the Friday night which I considered to be banter and humour – which is consistent with what I do.

“However, I was made aware on the Saturday morning from Tennis Australia, via the Djokovic camp, that the Djokovic camp was not happy at all with those comments.

“I immediately contacted the Djokovic camp and issued an apology to them – 48 hours ago – for any disrespect which Novak felt I had caused.

“As I stand here now I stand by that apology to Novak if he feels any disrespect, which he clearly does.

“The disrespect extends to the Serbian fans – over the years here there has been colour with them and passion and banter, and I thought that was an extension of that banter. Quite clearly that hasn’t been interpreted that way.

“I do feel I’ve let down the Serbian fans. I’m not just saying that to wriggle out of trouble. I genuinely feel for those fans.”

Devastating videos show the moment a medical jet carrying six people crashed into a residential area in Philadelphia.

Yesterday (January 31), a Jet Rescue Air Ambulance carrying a child patient, who was already in a life-threatening condition, and five others crashed shortly after taking off.

All six people onboard hailed from Mexico and are feared to have died in the ordeal.

Meanwhile, six people on the ground were reported to have been injured, BBC News reports – three of whom have since been released from hospital.

The plane, a Learjet 55, quickly disappeared from radar after taking off from the airport at 6.06pm and climbing to an altitude of 1,600 feet (487 metres).

It was en route to Springfield, Missouri, and registered to a company operating as Med Jets, according to the flight tracking website Flight Aware.

There’s been several videos shared of the tragic ordeal, including Ring doorbell footage.

The video shows the plane falling from the sky in a streak of white and exploding in a fireball as it hits the ground in a residential neighborhood near a shopping mall and major roadway.

“All we heard was a loud roar and didn’t know where it was coming from. We just turned around and saw the big plume,” said Jim Quinn, the owner of the doorbell camera.

In another clip shared on Twitter, the plane was compared to ‘a missile’ as it was seen plummeting into people’s homes.

The video, which seems to have been taken from someone’s home CCTV, sees a white flash fall towards the Northeast Philadelphia residential area in question and cause a huge explosion.

Dozens of people have since compared the clip to the plane being missile-like.

Someone said: “Looks more like a missile!”

“Doesn’t really look like a plane. Too fast and straight. Looks like a missile or a meteorite,” suggested another at first.

“Turn your volume UP and listen THATS A MISSILE,” added at third.

But it was in fact an aircraft, despite how this particular video looked.

Following the devastating events, the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) has confirmed that it will be investigating the presumed fatal crash.

It said in a statement yesterday, as per its website: “A Learjet 55 crashed around 6:30 p.m. local time on Friday, Jan. 31, after departing from Northeast Philadelphia Airport. Six people were on board. The plane was en route to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri.

“The FAA and NTSB will investigate. The NTSB will lead the investigation and will provide all updates.”

President Donald Trump took to TruthSocial to address the crash. He wrote: “So sad to see the plane go down in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. More innocent souls lost. Our people are totally engaged.”

Influencer explains why she faked her own kidnapping for 'social media clout'

Influencer explains why she faked her own kidnapping for ‘social media clout’

Victoria Rose led her followers to believe that she’d been kidnapped and taken to Nigeria

An influencer who staged her own kidnapping has explained why she did it.

Victoria Rose, who goes by Woah Vicky on her social media pages, sparked concern recently after a tweet was shared to her account claiming that she’d been kidnapped.

One of the now-deleted posts read: “I have kidnapped Vicky. She is with me in Nigeria. I am demanding $1million for her release.”

People were worried for Victoria after the ominous tweet was shared, and now she’s issued her fans an update.

In an Instagram Live on Sunday (December 29), Vicky was seen alive and well as she explained what had happened to her – and it turns out that the influencer wasn’t kidnapped at all and that it had all been a ‘joke’.

“We kind of got carried away with the joke, you know, we just like to have fun and joke,” Vicky said during the Instagram Live stream, as per LBC.

“I don’t drink or go to the club, so this is how I find my entertainment,” she went on. “You know, it’s probably not the best way to do it. I’d probably be like reading the Bible or something like that.”

Vicky continued to say that the Bible states that ‘laughter is good for the soul’.

“So I’d be wanting to laugh,” she added. “And this is how I find that funny.”

While she didn’t seem to take the kidnapping ruse very seriously, Vicky’s since apologized for her actions.

Her tweet began: “I just wanted to come on here one last time to sincerely apologize to anyone I may have harmed during this prank. Not thinking things through comes with consequences, and I’m paying for it now.”

Vicky continued to write: “My brother, father dmw looked out for me throughout my entire trip to Nigeria. I love and respect him deeply, and I would never want anything to happen to him.

“I also apologize for how this situation reflects on me—I never intended to make any Black man or any country, especially Nigeria, look bad. If it came across that way, I’m truly sorry. I love Nigeria, I love my brother, father, and I love my people.”

She ended the apology with: “I’ve learned a lot from this, and I’ll be taking time off the internet to reflect, fast, and grow closer to God. Please keep me in your prayers.”

Her statement hasn’t been well received, however, as many people have criticized her for going to such extreme lengths ‘for clout’.

One person said: “Apologies mean nothing when you’ve disrespected an entire culture for clout. You should’ve thought about the consequences before you turned Nigeria into your personal playground for likes.”

A second wrote: “Imagine all the people who are actually missing who could use the help and sympathy but it’s just a joke right.”

People spot terrifying figure in video of dancer who was home alone

People spot terrifying figure in video of dancer who was home alone

The haunting video went viral on TikTok last year

Callum Jones

Even when you reach adulthood, staying home alone can still have you jumping at every little noise and paranoid someone could be lurking in the darkness.

And this video of a man dancing alone in his home is certainly not going to help those fears.

Sitting at home, alone and bored is a bit tiresome – so what better thing to do than jumping on an online trend by having a boogie?

You may think all is well when creating a TikTok video, but it’s only until you watch it back something is seriously wrong.

TikTok user Reu – known as @reu_music – scrolled through his comments to find out that there was something creepy in the background of his video.

With the help of his trusted followers, Reu came to a conclusion that left him feeling ‘stomach sick’.

He captioned the seemingly innocent dance video: “lmao i’m home alone so i learned a tiktok dance. lov u doja but what has my life come to?”, but little did he know that there was an uninvited guest lurking in the corner.

Can you spot it? (TikTok/@reu_music)

In the clip, he can be seen dancing along to Doja Cat’s ‘Say So’, but his moves weren’t the only thing to stand out, it’s what was chilling on the top of the stairs that stole the show.

As the Canadian TikToker shifts position and starts swinging his arms around, the figure appears to pop its head around the corner for a second.

His followers spotted the creeper and immediately commented below.

One person wrote: “The AMOUNT OF ANXIETY I have from his video. That’s someone literally poking their head TO LOOK AT YOU.”

Another asked: “DID Y’ALL SEE THAT?? IN THE BACKGROUND???”

While one more wrote: “It’s 3am I did not need this right now,” and another person said: ‘When I tell you my heart DROPPED.”

Reu later posted some follow-up videos to keep everyone in the loop about the situation, initially thanking them for their concern saying: “I’m kinda stomach sick right now and I was in and out of sleep all last night.”

Yep, that is pretty scary. (TikTok/@reu_music)

The TikTok star later told UNILAD that while he was worried at first about the possibility that the figure ‘could have been a person’, he ruled it out after he and his family ‘checked the entire house.’

“There’s really nowhere for anyone to hide,” he said in a follow-up interview.

The content creator also responded to claims he made the whole thing up for attention, telling UNILAD: “If I were to manufacture a video just to go viral, I would have perfected the dance or at least made myself look a bit more presentable.”
