The Conjuring movies brought the iconic Annabell doll to life for millions, but many people don’t know the doll’s real-life story.
Yep, I said real-life story because the creepy doll the Conjuring movies focus on is based on an actual doll, that really exists.
Whether the films accurately depict what the doll has been up to in its spare time… well, who knows.
But regardless, there is a rather interesting history tied to the doll and it will certainly give you the creeps just a tad. And if you are fearful the ‘missing’ doll could be coming after you, well you better… nope, sorry nothing you can do, best to just accept it, I’m afraid.

What exactly is the Annabelle doll?
Just like in the movies, the real-life Raggedy Ann doll is said to be ‘possessed’ or ‘haunted’ , if you believe in that sort of thing.
The doll has been caged for most of its existence, but people swear the thing has gone walkabout and caused chaos in any home it has been in.
Annabelle has been locked in a wooden cage in a museum for horror fans to look at when it is usually held at NESPR’s Warrens’ Occult Museum, which was founded by paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.
The pair first came into contact with the doll way back in 1970 after getting a call from a concerned priest who needed their assistance.
The pair were told that two young nurses believed a human spirit was possessing the doll. During a taped meeting one of the nurses, named Deirdre, said she got the doll as a gift from her mother on her 28th birthday.
She said the doll had ‘moved around the apartment by itself’ and had even left creepy handwritten notes that said ‘help me’.
Deirdre said: “She moves. She acts alive. When we’d come home from work it would never be quite where we left it.”

Did Annabelle go missing?
Rumors have long circulated that the doll has previously gone missing, seemingly of its own accord, which has left some people skeptical and others terrified.
Well, according to NESPR lead investigator Dan Rivera in a TikTok video posted last week, she’s actually safe and sound.
In the video, Rivera said: “I’m here at the museum right now, and I just wanna show you guys that Annabelle is in the Warrens’ Occult Museum. As you can see in the clip, she’s safely inside of her wooden casing.”
NESPR’s Facebook account also decided to satisfy the fears of fans and denounced the rumor themselves.
Writing on a post, they said: “It’s a Rumor… Annabelle has NOT been stolen. The doll is safely in place at the Warren Occult Museum.”
Where is Annabelle now?
No one really knows… just kidding. Due to her popularity, Annabelle is currently on tour (in the comfort of her wooden casing) as part of the travelling US exhibition, Devils on the Run.
The tour started earlier this month and has likely been equally delighting and terrifying those who get an up-close look at the doll.
As part of the tour, Annabelle will be at the 2025 Rock Island Roadhouse Esoteric Expo in Rock Island, Illinois, on October 4.
So, if you think you can muster the courage to go see her, let’s hope you make it back home from the experience… alive.

This is the terrifying moment a whale capsized a boat before sending two people on board hurtling into the water.
The incident occurred off the coast of New Hampshire and was caught on camera by two teenagers on a nearby boat.
In the footage, the whale can be seen crashing down on the vessel, sending the terrified fishermen flying into the water.
Seconds later, the boat capsizes, but luckily, both fishermen survived the incident.
Speaking to CBS News Boston, one of the fishermen, Ryland Kenney, said: “Thankfully it was slow enough that I could kind of swim away from it before it completely capsized.

“He just happened to come up, he had a mouth full of fish coming in and just crashed down on the back of the boat.”
Meanwhile, fellow fisherman Greg Paquette added: “Not much time to react, I took a few steps back, which is why I basically did a superman off the back of the boat.
“… This is their home, this is their ocean.”
Ryland desperately searched for Greg but couldn’t see him. However, the pair made it home safely after two teenagers – Colin and Wyatt Yager – came to the rescue to help the men.
“I was just in shock. Everyone else had the same reaction and tried to get over to those people,” Wyatt told USA Today.
“It was like, ‘Oh shoot,’ and then, ‘We’ve got to go help these people.’ All the boats dropped what they were doing to go over to help them.”
The humpback whale is believed to be around two-years-old. It’s not clear what caused the whale to capsize the boat, but it’s believed to have been feeding on fish just below the vessel.
Dianna Schulte, co-founder and director of research for the Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation believes that the incident was ‘an accident’.
She told The Post: “The whales will come up through schools of fish with their mouth wide open and close their mouth, either right before they break the surface or even after they break the surface.
“The boat was in the wrong place.”

The fishermen were thankfully not harmed. (CBS Boston/Colin Yager)
She continued: “The boaters that are in the video, they should have known better to not be fishing with a large whale in the area, because [an accident] can happen.
“The whales, when they’re feeding on the fish schools, when they’re that dense, they just can’t see through the fish school, so they don’t know what’s above them, especially on a cloudy day like today. So the whale had no idea that the boat was even there.
“I’ve been watching whales and researching whales for 30 years, and I’ve never seen a humpback whale purposely hit a boat.”

It’s a staple of Bikini Bottom, and the envy of Plankton the copepod, and now, the Krabby Patty has been brought to the real world.
Wendy’s has released its own version of the iconic Spongebob Squarepants burger, but many fans are saying that there’s one thing missing from it.
The burgers feature heavily in the show, with fry cook Spongebob voiced by Tom Kenny cheerfully churning them out before returning home to his pineapple under the sea.
Not only that, but the jealous Plankton is always on the lookout for ways to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula and put the Krusty Krab out of business.
The ‘secret formula’ of the burger is a running joke, with many fans expressing their excitement at the real-life version on social media.
But after its arrival, many people were left saying the same thing about a notable omission in the burger.

That is, that the bun didn’t have the sesame seeds on it, despite it clearly having them in the cartoon.
Not only that, but some fans were left disappointed by the packaging, which wasn’t as colourful as they’d hoped.
They took to social media to share their thoughts on the burger after its release.
One person wrote: “It’s kind of crazy to me that this is the long awaited first time Krabby Patties have ever been ‘brought into the real world’ and they couldn’t even have a sesame seed bun or some fun packaging or anything.”
A second commented: “It’s surprising they didn’t add a sesame seed bun or creative packaging to make the Krabby Patties more appealing!

“A little extra effort could have made a big difference in bringing that iconic experience to life.”
A third echoed the sentiment, saying: “Yeah not even a fun box or anything.”
That said, the recipe of the burger is of course a closely guarded secret in the show, so who’s to say this isn’t actually the real deal?
It also comes with a Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty, in a reference to Spongebob’s home.
Lindsay Radkoski, the US Chief Marketing Officer for The Wendy’s Company, said: “In a world of people cutting corners, Wendy’s is known for quality in everything we do – from our fresh, famous food to collaborations with brands that our fans love.
“So, it makes sense that two of the most iconic squares in pop culture are teaming up to bring a taste of this unique, limited-time experience to life for fans of all ages!”

Sometimes the scariest films around aren’t even horrors purpose built to get you hiding behind your couch.
If I looked at the most scared I have ever been at a film, it has be little 12-year-old-me watching The Mummy when a scarab beetle began rooting around under someone’s skin.
While a horror movie has you in a constant state of feeling under attack, a non-horror can lure you into a false sense of security.

If 12-year-old me saw one of these from The Mummy he was running screaming. (Universal)
In the case of one film, which is not a horror, it is considered ‘terrifying’ by viewers due to some shockingly brutal depictions of violence – including what has been dubbed ‘the most brutal on-screen death ever’.
What’s more, this is not some schlocky action movie that has B-movie gore to try and shock you – but an incredibly well received Western.
The film has an unreal cast, including Kurt Russell, Patrick Wilson, Lili Simmons, and Richard Jenkins.
Add to that a respectable score 7.1 on IMDb and a whopping 91 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and you have what by all accounts is an incredible film.
Check out the trailer here:
The movie in question is called Bone Tomahawk, and it is absolutely brutal.
Bone Tomahawk, which is on Netflix in the US as well as Hulu and Tubi, focuses on a small town that has been terrorised by ‘cannibalistic savages’.
The people of the town then decide to put an end to it in gory fashion.
A fan asked the subreddit r/horror if Bone Tomahawk was scary despite it not being a horror, with one commenter saying: “Scary is subjective but I’d describe Bone Tomahawk as a film that is terrifying, horrifying and disgusting”.
Another said: “It scared me sh*tless personally”.

One 8/10 IMDb review of the film said: “Written and directed by S. Craig Zahler, ‘Bone Tomahawk’ is a brilliant, bloody film that you’d be hard pressed to forget.
“[The film] will have you gripped from start to finish”.
Now, for the ‘most brutal on-screen death ever.’
This is a lofty title, which many films could lay claim to, whether it be Cannibal Holocaust or Final Destination.
In a recent discussion on r/horror however, the question was asked, with one fan receiving over 1,000 upvotes for saying: “I’ll forever vote for the splitting scene in Bone Tomahawk”.

Another fan commented that ‘the screaming’ stuck with them, while third agreed commented: “Yea and just the sound design in general… It really goes to show big of an impact sound has on movies.
“Jesus Christ that kill was brutal. I’m a seasoned horror guy but that was genuinely shocking. Stuck with me for days.”
If you want an idea of how horrible it is, we cannot even show you a picture or video of the kill.
Guess you’ll have to open up Netflix, stick on Bone Tomahawk, and see for yourself.

People were given the chance to get their hands of $1 million cash as part of a very unique marketing campaign for a film.
The film in question was titled Million Dollar Mystery and hit theaters in the US in 1987.
The movie was about a man named Sidney Preston who stole $4 million from the government. He split the cash into four $1 million piles and hides them in different locations.
While on the run from the cops, Sidney stopped at a local diner to eat and it was here were he had a heart attack.
Telling the people around him about his situation as he’s dying, Sidney shared the locations of where the money is hidden.
Those in the diner who heard Sidney’s sentiments then all scramble to try find the money first.
Coming up to the end of the movie, three of the four wads of cash are discovered. It was then revealed that the fourth pile was actually put aside for movie-goers to find themselves.
In the closing credits, audiences were told at the time that, to find the money, they needed to follow the clues in specially marked in Glad-Lock bags (who sponsored the movie).

Ultimately, 14-year-old Alesia Lenae Jones of Bakersfield, California, was the lucky winner who worked out where the cash was.
It had been hidden in the bridge of the nose of the Statue of Liberty, news outlets reported at the time.
Jones was amongst thousands of people to correctly guess where the loot was being kept. With this in mind, all their names were put into a hat and the teenager’s name happened to be drawn.
While it was a great idea, the million-dollar giveaway turned out being more than Million Dollar Mystery made at the box office.
It’s said to have had a whopping $10 million budget, for it to only make $989,033. Ouch.

As well as being a financial flop, the movie was also slated by critics.
At the time of writing, Million Dollar Mystery has a 0 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Reviewers on IMDb have been a little less harsh, however, and the movie currently boasts a score of 5.1/10 on the site.
After being poorly received, Million Dollar Mystery became Academy Award-winning director Richard Fleisher’s final feature-length film.
He was best know for films like Design for Death, The Happy Time, The Vikings, and Compulsion.
