Some American Idol fans are expressing dissatisfaction with Carrie Underwood on the judging panel, with some even accusing her of “ruining” the show’s legacy.
Underwood, who recently surprised viewers by wearing a familiar dress on a recent episode, has had her co-star Luke Bryan defend her, as reports claim that some crew members feel she is negatively impacting the show’s legacy.
These criticisms followed a faith-based Easter episode, which reports suggest Underwood played a key role in behind the scenes.

Now, some fans are voicing their concerns about Underwood’s role on the panel after she replaced Katy Perry, who left the show after Season 22.
Many took to Reddit to share their opinions, noting that they were less impressed with Underwood despite her experience on the show. Several expressed that the show had become less exciting and more boring since Underwood took over for Perry.
“I think she’s okay with the feedback she gives, but I just feel like this season is the most boring one in a long time,” one user wrote.
“I get what people are saying about Katy, but she was entertaining and had great chemistry with the panel—Carrie’s been REALLY bland in comparison. I also feel like the country bias this season (which has always been there) is much stronger, and having ⅔ of the judges being country artists was a questionable decision,” another commented.

Some viewers also shared their thoughts on Underwood’s impact on the show.
“Katy really carried the show (no pun intended), and it’s way less interesting without her,” another added. “No offense to Carrie, she’s just not as dynamic or entertaining.”
Other criticisms came in as well.
“She is awful,” one fan wrote.
“Carrie seems to like the attention. She sings too much,” said another.
“Just be a judge and let the contestants do their thing!” they added.
However, there were also fans who praised Underwood’s presence on the show, noting how she’s a great fit for the judging panel.

“I think she’s doing great. I like how she gives the singers her full attention and relates to the process with them. Katy wanted to make every moment about herself,” one fan shared.
“I prefer her over Katy. She definitely has a lot more class (I don’t mean this as a dig at Katy… Katy just got unprofessional at times, in my opinion). I’ve enjoyed this season with her, and I think you had to watch the older seasons to understand how cool it is to have her as a judge. I hope she comes back, but if she doesn’t, I think it will be because she felt it was too much time away from her boys, not because she didn’t help the show succeed,” another fan added.
