Jeremy Renner explains surprising reason he was ‘so p***** off’ to be revived after ‘dying’ from snowplow accident

Jeremy Renner went into great detail about his out-of-body experience

Jeremy Renner has opened up more about how he felt during his near-fatal snowplow incident, revealing the out-of-body experience he had.

Jeremy Renner almost died outside of his home in Lake Tahoe on New Year’s Day 2023 in what could have been a fatal accident.

The film star was with his 27-year-old nephew, Alexander Fries, and saw the Snowcat begin to roll towards his relative, who he feared could be crushed between the plow and a nearby truck.

Trying to prevent this from happening, the actor attempted to hit the stop button on the machine only to slip and fall in front of it, leaving him struck and crushed by the seven-tonne device.

In his recently published memoirMy Next Breath, he argues that he did in fact ‘die’ that day in front of his house and had a wild supernatural out-of-body experience.

In the book, he stated: “I died, right there on the driveway to my house. Though I’d broken more than 30 bones and lost six quarts of blood (I’d find out the true extent of the injuries only later) an even greater danger to me as the minutes dragged by on the ice was hypothermia.

“I know I died – in fact, I’m sure of it.”

While you would expect to talk about the agonizing pain he was in, he spoke of an odd moment of bliss.

The actor shared his experiences of what he felt in that moment, saying: “When I died, what I felt was energy, a constantly connected, beautiful and fantastic energy. There was no time, place, or space, and nothing to see, except a kind of electric, two-way vision made from strands of that inconceivable energy.”

Speaking on SiriusXM’s Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa, Renner went into more detail about his supposed ‘supernatural’ experience when he ‘died’.

He also explained why coming back to his body was ultimately frustrating.

He said: “It’s a great relief is all I can say. It’s a wonderful relief to be removed from your body.

“It is the most exhilarating peace you could ever feel. You don’t see anything but what’s in your mind’s eye. You’re the atoms of who you are. The DNA. Your spirit is… it’s the highest adrenaline rush. But the peace that comes with it, it’s magnificent. It’s so magical. And I didn’t want to come back. I remember, and I was brought back and I was so pissed off.

“I was gone for, I think probably for, it doesn’t matter if it’s five minutes or two minutes or 10, but I came back and I saw the eyeball again.

“I’m like, oh, s***. I’m back. Saw my legs. I’m like, ‘Yeah, that’s gonna hurt later.’ I’m like, all right, let me continue to breathe.”

In a caption alongside the clip, he added: “I wish you all a very special night.”

Rennner, who recently turned 52 while in ICU, was airlifted to hospital after he was hit by his own vehicle outside his home near Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada mountains on New Year’s Day while attempting to free a car that had become stranded in the heavy snow.

A representative told Deadline at the time: “We can confirm that Jeremy has suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries and has undergone surgery today, January 2nd 2023.

“Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve and the Carano and Murdock families.

“They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”

The country’s sheriff Darin Balaam held a press conference where he shared the actor had been ‘run over‘ by an ‘extremely large piece of snow-removal equipment’ weighing ‘at least 14,330 pounds’, adding that the actor’s PistenBully became stuck.

“He went to retrieve his PistenBully or SnowCat – an extremely large piece of snow-moving equipment – to get his vehicle moving,” Balaam said.

“After moving the vehicle from the stuck location Mr Renner got out of the PistenBully to speak to his family member and it started to roll.

“He attempted to try and get into the driver’s seat of the PistenBully. It was at this point that he was run over by the PistenBully.”

The star posted a short message of gratitude to his fans just days after the accident, sharing a snap of himself lying in a hospital bed, Renner wrote: “Thank you all for your kind words.

“I’m too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all.”

This week, Renner’s sister Kym Renner told People that her brother was a ‘fighter’ and was making good progress.

“We are so thrilled with his progress,” she told the publication. “If anyone knows Jeremy, he is a fighter and doesn’t mess around.

“He is crushing all the progress goals.

“We couldn’t feel more positive about the road ahead.”

Jeremy Renner has shared a big update on his health with fans after his devastating snowplow accident in January.

However, he’s clearly trying really hard in his recovery, and after an update saying that he was ‘crushing all the progress goals’ a few months ago, he’s now shared a video showing him up and walking again on a treadmill.

It’s been about three months since the accident, so that’s pretty remarkable progress.

On Twitter, he shared the clip, writing: “I now have to find OTHER things to occupy my time so my body can recover from my will. #minduful #intended #recovery.”

Obviously, fans have been quick to congratulate the Hawkeye star on his efforts, with one person commenting: “OMG look at you go so very proud of you keep up the great work. I am so impressed.”

Another wrote: “Good job! So happy to see you up and on two feet.

“Take care of yourself, mind, body, and soul! Love and prayers!”

A third said: “I think I speak for a lot of us when I say we are so happy you’re getting better!

“You had us all worried! Keep being strong and can’t wait to see you back soon!”

This is just the latest update in Renner’s recovery journey, and you’d have to imagine there’s still a long way to go before he’s fully fit again.

Clearly he’s been hard at it though, as his wife said in January: “If anyone knows Jeremy, he is a fighter and doesn’t mess around.

“He is crushing all the progress goals.

“We couldn’t feel more positive about the road ahead.”

Renner was injured outside his home in Lake Tahoe on New Year’s Day when he attempted to free a stranded car with his snowplow.

In the end, it was his own vehicle that struck him, leaving him needing an airlift to hospital in a ‘critical but stable condition’.

While still in hospital, Renner thanked fans for their support, writing: “Thank you all for your kind words.

It’s good to see that he’s on the mend and still progressing well.
