The moment Jeff Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sánchez’s met Leonardo DiCaprio has left social media users roaring with laughter.

I guess we’d be lying if we said we’d probably not act a similar way – it is Leonardo DiCaprio, after all.

But people online simply won’t let Lauren Sánchez forget her rather awkward interaction with the Hollywood star.

The moment she and Bezos stopped to chat to DiCaprio at the 10th Annual Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)’s Art and Film Gala Presented By Gucci in 2021 was caught on camera – and has continued to do the rounds on social media some three years on.

In the clip, Sánchez can be seen so close to DiCaprio that it’s almost as if she’s half-hugging him.

She can’t stop beaming at him, and her eyes are wide as she gazes up at the actor’s face.

Bezos is on the other side of her, but it’s as though he doesn’t even exist amidst Sánchez and DiCaprio chatting away.

The actor then appears to be making an exit from the conversation, pointing his finger in the air, as Sánchez takes a step after him.

And it didn’t take long for people to flood to the post to weigh in – and they’re still doing so now, even in 2024.

One X user wrote: “I thought he wanted nothing to do with girls over 26.”

A second commented: “Who else noticed how she was staring at Leonardo the whole time?”

And a third joked: “Find you someone who looks at you the way Jeff Bezos’ girlfriend looks at Leonardo DiCaprio.”

Not even being one of the richest men in the world could make his girlfriend at the time tear her eyes away from the actor as they talked.

But he clearly didn’t too much to worry about in the end – with Bezos and Sánchez having since gone on to get engaged.

Bezos popped the question when the pair were vacationing on Bezos’ $500m super yacht Koru in May 2023.

While there’s not been much news about a date being set for their wedding – unless they did what all celebrities seem to do these days and got married in secret – with Sánchez being over 25, there’s no real need to hurry.

One X user wrote: “I thought he wanted nothing to do with girls over 26.”

Luckily for Bezos, while not even being one of the richest men in the world could make his girlfriend at the time tear her eyes away from the actor, he clearly didn’t actually have too much to worry about in the end – with Bezos and Sánchez having since gone on to get engaged.

While my expectations of how a super rich person would start their day are very high, Sanchez insists that her and Bezos’ lives are ‘pretty normal’.

Chatting to Vogue back in 2023, the author and philanthropist said: “Our lives are pretty normal. Daily life mostly revolves around our kids.”

Giving some more insight into the celebrity pair’s routine and an unwritten rule she has with Bezos, Sanchez shared: “Whoever gets up first, that person makes the other person coffee.”

Sounds fair to me.

“We try not to get on our phones right away,” she continued. “That’s what I’m working on.”

Sanchez added that the family eat together every night without fail — that’s after her kids’ piano and tutoring lessons, of course.

While some of Sanchez’s kids still live at home, all of Bezos’ children are at college.

The article sparked some backlash, as some suggested that the Bezos was ‘cosplaying as a working class stiff’.

Others on Reddit noted that it’s quite the luxury to be able to host a family dinner on a daily basis.

Someone raged: “You know what got me f**ked up reading that article? That they have the luxury of family dinner every night together and home cooked meals. […] A lot of families are lucky to have one day off per week all together.”

Away from their supposedly ‘normal’ lives, Sanchez and Bezos were reportedly planning a $600,000,000 wedding.

Bezos has since denied these reports, but with his staggering net worth in mind, his nuptials to Sanchez is likely to be a very lavish affair.

The claims about Bezos’ and Lauren Sánchez’s upcoming nuptials emerged over the weekend, after three sources told the Daily Mail that the couple had bought out a fancy sushi restaurant in Aspen, Colorado to celebrate their event, which was set to go ahead on December 28.

The actual ceremony was said to be taking place at luxury retreat Dunbar Ranch, with one source claiming it would set the couple back an estimated $600 million.

Bearing in mind that Bezos has a net worth of $244 billion, $600 million might not actually be that wild of a figure. After all, if you have the means to splash out on the best meals, flowers and favors that money can buy, why not go for it?

However, Bezos himself has now responded to the claims and said the details about his wedding are not true.

The 60-year-old spoke out in response to a post on Twitter from a fellow billionaire, hedge fund manager Bill Ackman.

Ackman shared one of the reports about Bezos’ wedding and wrote: “This is not credible. Unless you are buying each of your guests a house, you can’t spend this much money.”

Obviously, you could argue that Bezos might be offering each of his guests a house – but the man himself has now suggested that’s not the case.

After seeing Ackman’s post, Bezos followed up with his own response.

He wrote: “Furthermore, this whole thing is completely false — none of this is happening. The old adage ‘don’t believe everything you read’ is even more true today than it ever has been. Now lies can get ALL the way around the world before the truth can get its pants on. So be careful out there folks and don’t be gullible.

“Will be interesting to see if all the outlets that “covered” and re-reported on this issue a correction when it comes and goes and doesn’t happen.”
