Two teens found dead in remote US national forest as family release heartbreaking statement

Eighteen-year-old Pandora Kjolsrud and 17-year-old Evan Clark were enjoying a Memorial Day weekend camping trip when tragedy struck

The bodies of two teenagers have been discovered in a remote US national park as cops confirm they are treating the deaths as suspicious.

The corpses of 18-year-old Pandora Kjolsrud and 17-year-old Evan Clark, both of Arizona, were tragically found in the Tonto National Forest close to Mount Ord – roughly an hour-and-a-half drive from Phoenix – on Tuesday morning (May 27).

The pair are understood to have succumbed to fatal gunshot wounds having left for a Memorial Day weekend camping trip – with Maricopa County Medical Examiner listing the date of their deaths as being last Monday (May 26), while also confirming them as homicides.

GoFundMe pages have been set up to support their parents as they grieve, with Evan’s mom Sandra Malibu Sweeney expressing her gratitude for the outpouring of support she has received having lost ‘my only child and my beloved son’.

“This last week Evan was taken from me, and my level of grief feels insurmountable. I find myself at a complete loss to imagine a life without him. It is a small comfort to share some things about this boy who was on his way to becoming a wonderful man,” her heartbreaking statement read in part on the GoFundMe page.

“Evan wasn’t a typical teenager. He was funny, bright, kind and entrepreneurial. He was an old soul who was sensitive and loving. Evan wrote me letters, the last of which he gave me on Mother’s Day that was so touching it made me both laugh and cry. He was special. He deserved a long life.”

She concluded her statement by citing a Buddhist verse of the Dhammapada: “Let go of the past, let go of the future, let go of the present, and cross to the far shore. With the mind and body liberated, you shall suffer no more.”

While the GoFundMe page set up for Pandora described her as someone who adored animals and had a ‘special bond with her two little dogs and never failed to stop and greet any dog she passed on her hikes and neighborhood walks’.

It read in part: “Pandora Kjolsrud was just 18 years old when her life was violently taken on May 26th, 2025. She had a vivacious personality with an infectious smile that brought joy to so many.

“She was a beautiful human being and a bright light in this world who loved every single person she met and had a unique ability to make every person feel special.

“She loved music in all of its forms and enjoyed playing violin, cello and guitar. The outdoors is where she truly felt at home. She loved camping, horseback riding, kayaking and hiking with friends and family.”

Meanwhile, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office confirmed in a statement to ABC 15 Arizona on Friday, that the deaths of Evan and Pandora were being treated as suspicious.

They said: “At this time, our focus is on conducting a comprehensive and meticulous investigation to ensure justice for the victims and their loved ones.

“We are coordinating closely with our law enforcement partners and ask for patience and respect for the investigative process as we work through the facts.”

Warning: This article contains discussion of suicide which some readers may find distressing.

The GoFundMe for Hannah Kobayashi has shared a message with donors following her being found safe after going missing for a month.

On November 8, Hannah Kobayashi, 30, didn’t show up to her connected flight from Los Angeles to New York and after her family received texts claiming someone was trying to steal her identity, they grew concerned and reported her missing.

A search began for aspiring photographer, Kobayashi’s father Ryan Kobayashi flying from Maui, Hawaii to LA – later passing away in what is believed to be a suicide – and a GoFundMe was started to raise money to help find Hannah alongside pay for her father’s funeral expenses.

The GoFundMe

Shortly after she was reported missing, Hannah’s sister Syndi Kobayashi started a fundraiser.

The GoFundMe’s original post stated: “While the community support have been truly astonishing, the scope and intensity of the search are expanding, and so are the expenses with them. We still have not even been able to get any answers from LAPD or LAX and feel we need to continue to push harder to expedite the process.

“We are raising money to support the continuing mission to bring Hannah home.”

Hannah has since been found safe, the LAPD calling her disappearance ‘voluntary’ after she was spotted crossing the border into Mexico on foot.

The Kobayashi family released a statement on Twitter via their attorney saying how ‘relieved and grateful’ they were to find Hannah ‘safe’.

And the family has since taken to the GoFundMe to address what will happen to the donations raised – standing at $46,481.

Update

In an update on December 4, Hannah’s sister thanked everyone for the support, explaining the donations ‘helped pay for food hydration for the search teams, most of whom have been volunteers; transportation for our family and critical support team; communication devices and technology for an extensive search area with no cell phone service; a media campaign to maximize awareness of Hannah’s case and how to get in touch with the appropriate authorities; temporary accommodations for essential personnel; and on-site support for our family members’.

She added: “As my late father’s next of kin, I’m solely responsible for costs associated with his passing and funeral. Your donations will also help me pay for our father’s funeral expenses.”

In light of Hannah’s disappearance being called ‘voluntary’ by LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell, Sydni added the family remained ‘extremely concerned’ for Hannah as the behavior wasn’t ‘aligned’ with her ‘character’ and so the family had decided to ‘hire an attorney and a private investigator’ alongside using ‘legal and investigative services in Mexico in order to locate Hannah’.

“In addition to the expenses associated with our continued search efforts, we now also anticipate significant legal costs and expenses as we continue our search for Hannah,” she added.

However, the fundraiser has since revealed it would be ‘turning donations off’ in an update shared yesterday (December 12).

Police release statement after autistic teen left fighting for life after being shot ‘9 times’ by cops

The chief of police has argued the ‘risk was immediate’ with 17-year-old autistic and physically disabled teen Victor Perez

Warning: This article contains graphic description and video which some readers may find distressing.

Pocatello Police Department has released a statement after officers shot a 17-year-old autistic boy who is also ‘physically disabled’.

On April 5, 17-year-old Victor Perez was shot nine times by ‘four members of the Pocatello PD’.

The Puerto Rican teen from Pocatello, Idaho, is reported as being ‘autistic’ and ‘physically disabled,’ a GoFundMe for the teen stating he was ‘struggling with mental health issues’.

On the day of the shooting, it states his sister was ‘struggling to help him stand up off the ground in their front yard,’ due to him being ‘unable to walk well’.

“A neighbor called the police to de-escalate the situation, and four members of the Pocatello PD arrived on the scene and within 30 seconds had shot him,” it states.

Police have since released a statement to ‘provide clarity, share the information [they] can at this stage and address some misconceptions that have emerged’.

Chief Roger Schei said during a live broadcast shared onto the City of Pocatello’s Facebook page: “We understand the concern and emotion surrounding the shooting which occurred on April 5, 2025.

“[…] At approximately 5:22pm on Saturday, April 5, Pocatello police officers were dispatched […] in a response to a reported disturbance.”

Chief Schei then played the 911 call made to authorities in relation to the incident for ‘context’ as to what officers ‘were responding to’.

The 911 call documents a voice reporting spotting three people ‘out back’ with someone ‘brandishing a knife’ – the one with the knife looking ‘under the influence’.

The voice claims their dad is recording a video of everything they can see, remaining on the phone to authorities narrating what they can allegedly see, saying they can see someone ‘rolling around on the ground’.

CBS News reports the caller saying: “He’s just running at them with a knife and then falling over. I think he just stabbed himself, actually. […] He looks like he fell on the ground and kind of passed out.”

The 911 call lasts for around five minutes before cutting out, Chief Schei continuing: “Multiple officers responded due to the nature of the call. When officers arrived at 5:25pm, they saw a male on the ground holding a large knife.”

The Chief’s statement continued: “Two females were just a few feet away in the yard and another male stood just outside the fence. Officers positioned just outside the yard gave repeated commands for the male to drop the knife. He did not comply, instead he stood up and advanced towards the officers while still armed.

“At that point, officers discharged their firearms, stopping when the male fell. PPD officers immediately began life-saving measures and the male was transported to the Portland Medical Center where he remains hospitalized.”

Indeed, the GoFundMe details: “Victor is currently in critical condition at the hospital, and his leg has already been amputated. Doctors have advised his family to prepare for the worst.”

Chief Schei resolved by arguing: “In situations like this, officers must make decisions in seconds, they asses threats, not just to themselves, but to those nearby. In this case, two individuals were within a few feat of an armed, non-compliant individual – the risk was immediate and the situation rapidly evolving.

“We know this incident has deeply affected the community, we are also aware of the videos circulating online which shows only one angle. The full picture requires careful review of all facts and evidence – PPD is not releasing the male’s name but can confirm he is 17 years old.

“The incident is being investigated independently by the Eastern Idaho Critical Incident Task Force made up of outside independent ages in a parallel internal investigation.

“Our thoughts are with everyone impacted. Again, we’re not taking questions out of respect for the ongoing investigation.”

Madeleine McCann’s parents issued heartbreaking statement just days before police found evidence ‘indicating she’s dead’

Madeleine McCann’s parents issued a statement recently to mark 18 years since she disappeared

Callum Jones

The parents of Madeleine McCann issued a heartbreaking statement just days before police issued an update on the case, finding evidence ‘indicating she’s dead’.

18 years ago, three-year-old Madeleine from Britain went missing after last being seen at a holiday apartment complex in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007.

The toddler’s disappearance prompted a Europe-wide police investigation, which has still not been solved.

However, police have recently discussed evidence found nearly a decade ago that they claim confirms that the toddler is dead.

Just days before shocking developments were made public, Madeleine’s family issued a heartbreaking statement to mark 18 years since their daughter’s abduction.

‘Kate, Gerry & family’ penned: “As we arrive at the 18th anniversary of Madeleine’s abduction, we’d like to thank our faithful supporters once again for standing by us and never forgetting about Madeleine.

“The years appear to be passing even more quickly and whilst we have no significant news to share, our determination to ‘leave no stone unturned’ is unwavering. We will do our utmost to achieve this.

“May is also Madeleine’s birthday – her 22nd this year. No matter how near or far she is, she continues to be right here with us, every day, but especially on her special day. We continue to ‘celebrate’ her as the very beautiful and unique person she is. We miss her.”

The developments in question pertain to Christian Brueckner, the prime suspect in the case, and the material found on his property that German police have said is evidence that Madeleine is no longer alive.

In 2016, a dog found a suspected grave in a disused factory in Neuwegersleben, Germany, which was the property of German Christian Brueckner.

The ‘grave’ in question belonged to a dead dog, but USB and hard drives devices were also found, reportedly contained highly disturbing material confirming Brueckner’s alleged obsession with kidnapping children, records of Skype chats with paedophiles talking about children, and child abuse images.

Alongside the technological devices, children’s clothes, including 70 physical children’s swimming costumes and toys, as well as masks, chemicals, and three guns were also reportedly found at the factory. A case also revealed images of girls aged between four and five years old.

A photograph of Brueckner also allegedly links him to a location close to where Madeleine vanished.

It’s reported images found on the devices are ‘crucial’ evidence Madeleine likely died shortly after she went missing.

Months after the search was conducted, Brueckner was arrested and convicted of child abuse, unconnected to Madeleine’s case.

He was later named as a suspect in Madeleine’s case in 2020, which coincided with German prosecutors stating they believe the missing girl is no longer alive.

In December, 2019, after his DNA was matched to another crime scene, Brueckner was found guilty of the rape of a woman in Praia da Luz in 2005 and sentenced to seven years, a sentence he is still currently serving.

Brueckner has denied any involvement in the McCann case.

Stepmom gives heartbreaking update as last surviving daughter dies following mother’s murder-suicide of all her kids

The sole survivor from the murder-suicide that saw three girls as young as two shot dead has tragically passed away.

After five days battling an unimaginable gunshot wound to the head, seven-year-old Olivia Blackmer died on Saturday afternoon (February 15). Her 32-year-old mother Tranyelle Harshman was the one who shot her and her sisters before she took her own life.

Little Olivia is the last of the girls to die at the hands of her mom, with her nine-year-old sister and two-year-old stepsisters passing last Monday afternoon (February 10) at the scene of the crime in Wyoming.

Taking to the GoFundMe page setup to pay for Olivia’s medical expenses, as well as for the kids’ funeral arrangements, her stepmom Katelynn Blackmer shared the devastating news.

“Olivia is with her sisters now. She gained her angel wings yesterday at 3:44pm. She fought so so hard up til the last minute! Her body and her brain had been through too much, medication helped but we reached a point where medical options were exhausted and her body only continued to get worse,” she wrote.

“She kept fighting through it all though until her heart stopped. We are grateful she hung on as long as she did so we could get some valuable time with our sweet baby girl the last five days. We want to thank each and every one of you for your prayers and support for our family.

“We are in a rough spot with the tragic passing of both daughters. We took time as a family to grieve and be in the moment before letting the world know but wanted to let you all know as we are thankful for all that you have done.”

Adding: “Olivia and Brailey know how loved they were by all of us! This is going to be extremely hard, please keep our family in your prayers as we figure out how to grieve this horrific tragedy day to day.”

It comes as it was reported that Harshman dialled 911 herself at the time (February 10), to report that her four daughters had been shot, according to the local sheriff’s office.

She told the dispatcher where the girls were located in the house during the call, leading the officers to discover the bodies with gunshot wounds to their heads.

Olivia was the sole survivor at the time.

When Harshman was found, it was determined that she was alive, but she later died from her wounds.
