Britney Spears has explained why she lied about who she lost her virginity to for three decades.
The 43-year-old pop icon has confessed she’s had a bit of a ‘Toxic’ secret of her own for the past 30 years.
Spears has opened up a lot more about her life ever since her father’s controversial conservatorship over her came to an end in 2021 after 13 long years.
The mom-of-two also settled some other messy legal issues with her dad, Jamie Spears, for an undisclosed sum last year.
Now, her latest memoir, The Woman in Me, which hit shelves in 2023 is doing the rounds as fans learn some interesting insight into the ‘Princess of Pop’ that has never been discussed before.

Spears, who shot to fame as a child under the wings of Disney, wrote that when her career started, her publicists were keen to market her to the world in a very specific way.
This included a restraint on her sex life – and she couldn’t go into detail about things like what age she lost her virginity.
She wrote: “The truth was, if you’re young and single in Hollywood, if there’s even a rumor that you’ve had sex, you’re labelled a slut. So my team created this whole narrative around me.”
This was despite her high-profile relationship with Justin Timberlake, whom she met through The All-New Mickey Mouse Club in 1992 before they came out as a couple in 1999.
The couple, who were both 18, even lived together – and even still Spears was encouraged to keep up the lie.

“Given that I had so many teenage fans, my managers and press people had long tried to portray me as an eternal virgin – never mind that Justin Timberlake and I had been living together, and I’d been having sex since I was fourteen,” she penned in The Woman in Me.
Even after the pair went their separate ways in 2002, Spears kept up the lie, saying in 2003 that ‘two years into my relationship with Justin’ was the first time she had ever sex.
“Why did my managers work so hard to claim I was some kind of young-girl virgin even into my twenties? Whose business was it if I’d had sex or not?” the ‘Oops!… I Did It Again’ singer added.
In the memoir, Spears finally came clean and explained how she actually had lost her virginity at 14 years old to her brother’s childhood buddy, recalling how she was a freshman and he was a senior at the time.

The confession comes as her bestselling memoir, which shot to number one on the New York Times best seller list in its first week of release, is reportedly fuelling a Britney Spears biopic, set to be directed by Wicked’s Jon M. Chu.
The book details the star’s battles with her mental health, conservatorship under her father and other intimate details like her exploitation in the music industry and her decision to have an abortion.
When her conservatorship ended in 2021, Spears said she wouldn’t wish the ‘pain’ of it on anyone and was finding it ‘extremely hard’ to accept what had happened to her over the years.

Britney Spears’ ex husband Sam Asghari shares ‘weirdest thing’ about their marriage in rare interview
The pop icon and Asghari were romantically involved for six years
Sam Asghari has given some rare insight into his relationship with Britney Spears.
Asghari and Spears officially started dating in 2017, and went on to marry five years later. But their marriage was short-lived, with the pair ending up divorcing just 14 months later.
It’s thought Asghari was the only to file the papers, and he cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for their split.
Explaining what this means, Evan Schein of New York-based family law firm Berkman Bottger Newman & Schein previously told UNILAD: “Irreconcilable differences is essentially no fault divorce and allows one spouse to file for divorce without alleging grounds or fault. This is the widely used term to file for divorce.”

Speaking back in 2023, Spears said she was ‘shocked’ by the divorce, but didn’t go into details for the reason for their split because it’s ‘nobody’s business’.
Now, Asghari has made some more comments about his relationship with the pop icon and revealed the ‘weird’ part of it.
Chatting on Kate and Oliver Hudson’s Sibling Revelry podcast, the 30-year-old said: “One day I start learning about what the conservatorship is, and that’s when I was like, ‘Wait a minute. I thought I’m in America. What do you mean someone over the age of 18 needs permission from their parents?'”
Asghari went on: “That was the most difficult and weird spiral thing that I’ve witnessed in my life.”

As to how he helped his then-wife, the model and actor said: “The best thing you can do is provide support in that moment.
“I provided as much as I could,” Asghari added.
The Jackpot! actor has only spoken out on his split from Spears on a handful of occasions.
When chatting to PEOPLE last year about it, Asghari said he doesn’t relate to former couples who talk badly about one another after splitting.
“I never understood when people part ways [and] they talk badly about each other,” he shared.
“That’s something I’m never going to do because I had nothing but an amazing experience and a great life, and that’s always going to be part of my life, a chapter of my life.”
Noting that he was soon turning 30 at the time, Asghari went on: “I used to think people that were 30 years old were so old when I was in high school. But every person I talk to, the older they get, the more they get to enjoy life, because with age comes wisdom and experiences.
“And I think experiences in life are beautiful, so that’s something that I’m just super excited to just be fulfilled with.”

While Britney Spears is overjoyed at reconciling with Jayden Federline, not everybody sees it that way
Britney Spears’ ex-husband has spoken out after it’s been reported she’s reconnected with their son.
Spears herself would probably say reconnecting with Jayden Federline is long overdue – having gone years at one point without so much as a word.
Their reconnection comes as multiple news outlets reported how the 42-year-old will no longer have to pay child support to her ex-husband Kevin Federline when Jayden graduates from high school this month.
Spears is estimated to have paid a staggering $5 million to Federline over the last 17 years for the two kids since they split up.
Obviously the courts take into account your income and other factors… but still that’s a lot of money to pay out.

Spears and Federline were married between 2004 and 2007 and welcomed two sons together over the course of their relationship.
In light of Spears’ struggles over the years, Federline was given full custody of their kids in 2008 and the ‘Toxic’ hitmaker has been paying him child support ever since.
“The amount of money Britney has given Kevin for the two boys is extraordinary and it is enough for any man to support an entire family, which is what she believes he has done,” a source close to Spears told MailOnline.
Now, TMZ has reported that Jayden has moved back from Hawaii to California and has been patching his relationship up with his mom.
A source also told Page Six: “They have been spending a lot of time together.”
While a second insider added: “Britney is thrilled to have her baby back. Everything is moving in the right direction.”
The news has sparked a statement from Federline’s camp, with Federline’s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan telling the publication: “If there has been a reconciliation it’s news to Kevin.”

He went on to explain in further detail that Jayden and Federline speak often and at no point have they spoke about a reconciliation between him and his mom.
Since Spears lost custody of her children their relationship has been fractured but Jayden had always hoped they could reconcile.
Back in 2022, he told the Daily Mail: “I 100% think this can be fixed.
“It’s just going to take a lot of time and effort. I just want her to get better mentally. When she gets better I really want to see her again.”
It came after it emerged that Spears had been under conservatorship with her father Jamie Spears, and attorney Andrew M Wallet both named as conservators – it lasted from February 2008 until three years ago to this date (November 12, 2021).
What it meant was that a judge ruled that they should manage the personal or financial affairs of Spears who was deemed incapable of fully managing her own affairs.

Britney Spears‘ memoir has revealed she got secretly pregnant while she was dating Justin Timberlake.
The pop star’s long-awaited insight into her life and career, which is titled The Woman in Me, is set to drop this month.
PEOPLE obtained an excerpt and it opens up on a delicate moment for the singer.
She explained for the very first time that she was expecting a baby with her then-boyfriend when they were only about 19 years old.
They allegedly found out they were going to be parents in 2000.

In her book, she wrote: “It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day.
“This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated.
“But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”
UNILAD has reached out to Timberlake’s representatives for comment.
After having intense discussions, Britney opted for an abortion.
“If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father,” she said.
Britney explained that it was one of the ‘most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life’.
Still to this day she finds it harrowing.
TMZ reports Britney was ‘conflicted’ about the abortion due to her religious upbringing and her family’s views on the issue.
Some fans have taken to social media to suggest Britney alluded to the abortion in the music video for ‘Everytime’.

The 2003 song shows the pop star being hounded by paparazzi as well as having fights with a male counterpart.
Towards the end of the video, she’s seen walking through a hospital while a baby girl is born.
While some critics thought this alluded to the idea of her being reincarnated, some of her diehard supporters believe this was her way of mentioning the ‘agonizing’ baby she didn’t get to have.
Britney and Justin dated from 1998 to 2002 and were one of Hollywood’s biggest celebrity couples at the time.
Spears eventually had her first child, Sean Preston, in 2005 after marrying Kevin Federline.
She had her second baby, Jayden James, the following year.
The Woman in Me is set to come out on October 24 and has been praised by the publishers for lifting a lid on the pop star’s life.
It promises to reveal ‘for the first time her incredible journey (and) strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history’.

Britney Spears’ song ‘Everytime’ re-enters the charts for the first time in nearly 20 years
Some believe the song is about her abortion after she fell pregnant with her then-boyfriend Justin Timberlake.
Britney Spears’ song ‘Everytime’ has entered the Top 100 on iTunes for the first time in nearly two decades.
Fans are revisiting the 2003 song after the singer revealed in her upcoming memoir she had an abortion after falling pregnant with her then-boyfriend Justin Timberlake.
Speculation has been swirling for years that ‘Everytime’ is a response to ‘Cry Me A River’.
However, following the bombshell revelation, many believe the song is about the pop icon terminating her pregnancy when she dated the ‘Sexy Back’ singer in 2000.

“It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day,” she wrote in an excerpt in The Woman in Me, obtained by PEOPLE.
“This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated.
“But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”
According to music aggregator Kworb, the song currently sits at number 31 on the Top 100 US iTunes chart at the time of writing.
The music video, which debuted in 2004, contains one scene in a hospital, with one woman dying and one woman giving birth, which fans believe symbolizes Spears’ unborn child.
One user wrote on X: “So we’ve been dedicating ‘Everytime’ to exes and our impossible fairytales when in reality Britney wrote the song in the process of healing the trauma of abortion… this is f**ked up like I’m gonna need some time to digest this.”
Another said: “The ‘Everytime’ music video hits different knowing Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake had an abortion.”
While a third commented: “I always wondered why ‘Everytime’ had a baby being born at the end of the video. I always thought it was out of place.
“Now I know it’s not out of place at all Britney is a beautiful icon. She showed her pain in 2004 and never spoke of an abortion. …Almost 20 years later.”
However, some hit back at these claims.
One user wrote: “Don’t love that *they* collectively decided that ‘Everytime’ is about the abortion and they’re making it chart. That gives me the ick.”
While another shared: “I’m a Britney fan. I know ‘Everytime’ by Britney Spears is her apology song for cheating on JT. It’s not about abortion. The newborn baby in her music video symbolizes something else like a new life or keeping her vulnerability safe. Not abortion. Geez! Some fans are ridiculous.”
The Woman in Me is set to be released October 24.
