Suspected assassin of Democratic lawmaker and spouse captured alive after FBI released terrifying doorbell camera footage

Vance Luther Boelter was detained on Sunday evening after a tipoff

The suspected assassin of a Minnesota state lawmaker and her husband has been captured alive after the FBI released chilling doorbell camera footage.

Minnesota lawmakers Melissa Hortman, 55, and John Hoffman, 60, and their spouses were attacked in their respective homes, on Saturday (June 14).

The attack killed Minnesota Rep. Hortman and her husband Mark, while Senator Hoffman and his wife Yvette remain in hospital in a stable condition after undergoing emergency surgery.

Police confirmed that they were first notified of the shooting at Hoffman’s home at approximately 2.00am on Saturday, according to Drew Evans, superintendent of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

Officials ‘proactively’ visited Hortman’s home where they were met with the suspect, Vance Luther Boelter, 57, who was ‘immediately’ firing at them.

“The individual was able to escape during that exchange of gunfire,” Evans claimed, as Boelter is alleged to have texted his roommate that he ‘may be dead shortly’.

During their investigation, law enforcement are said to have found a manifesto that named several other people on his alleged hit list.

All of those on the list were abortion rights activists, according to police.

A manhunt for the alleged gunman commenced on Saturday, and it was on Sunday (June 15) when police found Boelter in a wooded area in Sibley County, which is southwest of Minneapolis.

The detainment without incident came after police received a tipoff of the gunman’s whereabouts earlier on Sunday.

“After a two-day manhunt and two sleepless nights, law enforcement have apprehended Vance Boelter,” Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said during a press briefing.

Captioning an image of his arrest on Facebook, Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office said: “The face of evil. After relentless and determined police work, the killer is now in custody. Thanks to the dedication of multiple agencies working together along with support from the community, justice is one step closer.”

Boelter is said to have ‘crawled’ to arresting officers and swiftly taken into custody and is now facing two counts of second-degree murder and a further two counts of attempted second-degree murder.

The suspect disguised himself as a police officer, even wearing the uniform as he conducted the alleged attack over the weekend.

Bob Jacobson, Minnesota Department of Public Safety Commissioner, said: “Boelter exploited the trust our uniforms are meant to represent that betrayal is deeply disturbing to those of us who wear the badge with honor and responsibility.”

Hortman was the top House Democratic leader in the state legislature and a former house speaker having been first elected in 2004.

Hoffman, a Democrat, was first elected in 2012, and runs Hoffman Strategic Advisors, a consulting firm.

A man accused of murdering his girlfriend was captured on doorbell footage threatening her while outside of her apartment.

Last month, Renise Wolfe was found dead in her North Las Vegas home.

The 33-year-old was a tattooist and had attended a family party the night before her death with her boyfriend of five months, Markeem Benson.

Wolfe was found with multiple gunshot wounds and Benson has since been formally charged with her murder.

He has since claimed that he shot Wolfe in self-defense when he turned himself in to the authorities, according to The Daily Mail, with police saying that he also claimed there was a ‘struggle’ before she was shot.

Michelle Jobe, the Clark County Chief Deputy District Attorney, said: “The victim was shot behind the ear from the back of the head, four times, so he claims there was a struggle and the gun went off.”

Jobe also added that there was no evidence of self-defense.

On January 14, a grand jury indicted the 29-year-old for charges of open murder with the use of a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, 8 News Now reports.

In court, doorbell footage of Benson was played where he could be heard threatening to kill Wolfe as he entered her apartment.

“I just almost want to kill you, b***h,” he’s heard saying. “I just want to kill yo’ ass.”

Other videos also showed him on the day in question entering and leaving Wolfe’s apartment within a few hours of each other, wearing different clothing in different videos.

It was Benson’s father, Eric Benson, who’d called the police after Wolfe’s shooting.

In audio of his 911 call, he says (via 8 News Now): “I believe there’s been a murder, ma’am.”

Speaking of his son and Wolfe, Eric continued: “They got into it and they tussled with the gun. It went off and he says she’s dead.”

Wolfe’s mom, Tracy Coleman, has thanked him for calling 911, saying: “Thank God for his dad, because his dad called the police.

“I appreciate that his dad did that, and I don’t understand why you would take the life of someone.”

Court records show that Benson was denied bail after being sentenced to 36 months probation on November 14 for attempted robbery.

According to 8 News Now, Judge Belinda Harris said she’d denied his bail due to his probation status at the time of his arrest.

Benson is due back in court on February 6.

Missing girl, 15, found alive six weeks after disappearance 500 miles away from home

Three men have been arrested for allegedly having contact with the teen but not tied to her disappearance

A 15-year-old girl from Utah has been located after walking into a police station to identify herself six weeks after going missing.

On April 21, 2025, a 15-year-old girl named Alisa Petrov from South Jordan in Utah was reported as a ‘runaway’ after being spotted leaving her school in American Fork.

The South Jordan Police Department reported Alisa as ‘attempting to meet individuals she met online using multiple social media platforms and chat applications’.

“Alisa is listed as a Runway Juvenile who is endangered,” a statement from the department read. “Any knowledge of her whereabouts should be reported to Law Enforcement immediately.”

The department took to Facebook on April 29 to alert the public to Alisa’s disappearance.

It stated the teen had ‘walked away’ from her school, ‘purchased items at a local gas station’ and was ‘later observed boarding a UTA train’ before exiting at Provo station.

“Alisa reportedly asked multiple people to aid in her travel to Las Vegas,” the force added.

South Jordan Police Department says it has located Alisa

In the latest update, the South Jordan Police Department shared an immediate release earlier today (June 2).

It reads: “In the evening hours of June 1, 2025, a young female voluntarily made contact with the Colorado Springs, Colorado Police Department and identified herself as Alisa Petrov.

“Alisa’s identity was confirmed. Alisa is in good health and safe with Colorado officials.”

The statement noted Alisa’s parents have also been ‘notified of her location’ and they’re working alongside them to ‘bring her home’.

It follows the police department revealing it’d made several arrests while tracking Alisa down – the men accused of having contact with the teen prior to her going missing but none accused of being involved in her disappearance.

Arrests made within the investigation

In an update on May 20, the department identified a man named Matthew Nicholas Menard from Miami, Florida.

It revealed it had filed charges against him for enticement of a minor, criminal solicitation and aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.

A second man named William Taylor Glines from Texas was identified, with police filing charges on Glines for enticement of a minor, criminal solicitation, attempted aggravated exploitation of a minor, aggravated exploitation of a minor and sexual exploitation of a minor.

The department alleges the pair ‘communicated with Alisa Petrov prior to her leaving school on April 21’.

On May 28, authorities revealed Menard had ‘self-surrendered’ to the department.

A ‘third adult male’ named Samuel Mitchell from Herriman, Utah, was also arrested on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor and booked into jail.

And Alisa’s parents have spoken out on a website they started in a bid to find their daughter.

The website reads: “Thank you everyone for all your help! Thank you for sharing the news, thank you for following, and thank you for the tips! Alisa walked into a police department today on June 1 2025. She was gone for almost six weeks.”

The site thanks the police department alongside Salt Lake City FBI, as well as the family’s friends and ‘Jaz from Missing In America Network for the best emotional support in such stressful situations’.

It resolves: “Also special thank you to our local community for Praying!”

Doorbell footage captures terrifying moment ‘devil’ approaches house carrying eerie sign

The homeowner was left shaken after seeing the terrifying sight on her camera

A doorbell camera at a home in Texas caught the terrifying moment a ‘devil’ turned up on the doorstep holding a sign relating to a Bible verse.

We all have those moments when we want to pretend we’re not home, like when you’ve just sat down with your dinner and a good TV show, or when you thought the last of the trick-or-treaters were long gone.

But I can’t imagine ever wanting to turn off the lights and hide behind the sofa more than if the person at the door was dressed to look like the devil – in January.

This is exactly the picture that a homeowner in in Carrollton, about 20 miles north of Dallas in North Texas, was faced with on the night of January 18, when she checked her Ring doorbell at around 8pm to see a figure dressed in a black sweatshirt and red, horned devil mask.

Thankfully the homeowner, who asked CBS News Texas not to be named, wasn’t actually at home at the time, but the incident has still left her shaken.

She told the outlet: “My husband and I had gone out to dinner, and we had stopped off at the store to pick up a Powerball ticket and I was waiting in the car for him and my Ring notification went off.

“And the person popped up on the video with that goat mask on and they were approaching my door.”

The homeowner noticed that the figure was holding a sign which read: “Revelation 20: 1-15.”

It’s a reference to a Bible verse – one that is ‘about the end of times’ and ‘judgement day’, the homeowner explained.

“I freaked out. I mean I was… I couldn’t even think of anything,” she said.

According to Biblia, part of the Bible verse Revelation 20: 1-15 reads: “Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.”

Footage from the doorbell indicates the figure only pretended to knock at the door, but by the time the homeowner called the local police the person had already left.

Police filed a report, and are now monitoring the situation. The homeowner was also reportedly told that police will be patrolling the neighborhood.

Gloria Johns, a neighbor in the area, described the incident as ‘really scary’.

“I’m not aware of anything like this ever happening and I hope they catch him,” she said.

After she spoke out about the incident, the homeowner received a lot of responses online and consequently had a warning for the person in the video.

“From my post, a lot of people are saying they would probably shoot the person,” she said. “I wish it were fake because it has really affected me.”

Local authorities are encouraging residents to remain vigilant and report any activity that appears to be suspicious.

Final moments of police officer caught on doorbell camera before he was killed allegedly trying to break into house

The chilling footage of an off-duty Atlanta cop’s final moments before being shot dead has shocked the online community.

It was only last Friday (October 4) that Aubree Horton was shot and killed as he allegedly broke into a home in Winston, around 30 miles from Atlanta, US.

The police investigator was caught on the homeowner’s Ring doorbell camera running around the yard without a shirt on, yelling and banging on the door.

He was also seen muttering strange things to himself, which included him asking to be killed, and asking for Jesus to save him.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Horton was killed after 5:08 a.m. after being spotted by the homeowner’s wife, who called 911 while she was on her way to work.

Allegedly, she had received alerts from her camera showing Horton running around her property.

Unfortunately, Horton reportedly forced his way into the home and was fatally shot by the homeowner before law enforcement arrived.

Horton was part of the Atlanta Police Department, where he had worked from 2015.

He had been assigned to the department’s Fugitive Unit and even named ‘Investigator of the Year’ at the 2024 Atlanta Police Foundation’s annual Crime is Toast event.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office went on to release partial footage of the doorbell camera, showing Horton seemingly in a stage of panic.

In the video, Horton yelled ‘Jesus’ and ‘help me’ before staring ‘I’m home’ as he approached the front door. He then body slammed the door twice and said: “No, kill me.”

When Horton sat down, the homeowner attempted to communicate with him through the door.

Then, the officer said ‘I love you’ and ‘just kill me’ before lying down, then deciding to get back up and approach the door again.

The sheriff’s office stated that it was when the homeowner opened the door slightly, Horton forced his way into the home and knocked down the homeowner, who then shot him in self defense.

The office said: “Fearing for his life and in defense of his home, the homeowner discharged a single round from his firearm, fatally wounding Horton inside his home.”

According to investigators, Horton lived within walking distance of the home he died in.

The sheriff’s office noted in a preliminary report on October 5 that Horton ‘appeared on video to be experiencing a mental health episode or under the influence of narcotics.’

However, it could take months to complete a toxicology report and to gather evidence of what took place that morning.

Even though the man shot and killed the off-duty cop, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said that it was ‘confident that no charges will be filed against the homeowner.’

People who watched the video online were naturally quite shocked over what they saw, as one person wrote: “Dude was going through something for sure. Almost like he was being chased by demons and they got exactly the outcome they wanted…”

Another said: “It’s a heartbreaking scene, and witnessing such moments is very difficult.”
