Sarah Michelle Gellar has given Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans a huge update on the well-loved series’ reboot.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Gellar was in talks to reprise her role of Buffy Summers in the 90s cult classic TV show, which drew to a close in May 2003.

It’s since been confirmed that Hulu is developing a reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which Gellar is indeed attached to.

But this time round Buffy will act as a mentor instead of the lead slayer, meaning producers were on the lookout for their new lead.

It’s now been confirmed who will be cast as the front-woman of the reboot, and it’s sent fans into a frenzy.

Taking to Instagram yesterday (May 15), Gellar — who has been happily married to fellow actor Freddie Prinze Jr. for 23 years — shared a video of a conversation she had with an actress called Ryan Kiera Armstrong.

While only 15 years old, Armstrong has already worked with some of the biggest names in the film industry including Zac Efron, Chris Pratt, Nicolas Cage, and Jude Law in projects such as Firestarter and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

In the video call between Armstrong and Gellar, the Buffy alum asks the up-and-coming actress: “How do you feel about helping me save the world? Do you want to be my chosen one?”

Armstrong then becomes overcome with emotion as she graciously accepts Gellar’s offer.

“From the second we all saw your tape, there was nobody else in our eyes that could do it and that [we] wanted to do it with,” she went on to tell Armstrong.

“I’m so excited to stand by your side and have you be my partner on this journey.”

Gellar captioned the sweet video shared to social media: “I want to introduce you to @ryankarmstrong From the moment I saw Ryan’s audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side.

“To have that kind of emotional intelligence , and talent, at such a young age is truly a gift. The bonus is that her smile lights up even the darkest room. Welcome to #NewSunnydale.”

Buffy fans have since expressed their excitement at the huge news. One person replied to Gellar’s post: “Crying! this is so exciting.”

“Omggggg this is so real now and i’m so so excited,” echoed another.

A third said: “This is heartwarming, Sarah you’re so lovely and supportive. You made her and all of our days!”

Others were quick to congratulate Armstrong on her exciting new role.

It isn’t thought that the Buffy reboot has started production yet.

Nicole Kidman found out before filming a new Netflix series that she had to film raunchy sex scenes with her best friend’s ex.

It turns out that Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber had quite an awkward situation to overcome before filming for Netflix’s The Perfect Couple.

Fans are loving the new release, but a bit of behind the scenes info has made all those raunchy sex scenes feel a little… well, uncomfortable.

Fans were left with jaws on the floor after finding out that Schreiber is actually the ex-partner of an A-lister who happens to be ‘besties’ with Kidman.

The real life ex is none other than Naomi Watts, and the pair were in a relationship for 11 years.

They split in 2016, but did have two children together – Sasha, 17, and Kai, 15.

Now, eight years on from the split, Watts’ pal is filming racy scenes with her former flame in the brand new Netflix series.

And it didn’t take fans long to clock onto the vibes.

“Watching episode 1 of The Perfect Couple and suddenly remembered that Liev Schreiber, who plays Nicole’s husband in the show was in a relationship with Naomi Watts, one of Nicole’s closest friends. Like whoaaaa,” one commented on X.

Another added: “Starting The Perfect Couple and just wondering the dynamic between Liev Shrieber and Nicole Kidman since that’s is the bff of his ex wife (Naomi Watts).”

But one person did note that Kidman made a nice gesture to Watts before she took on the role.

One fan revealed: “The fact that Nicole asked Naomi if it was ok to ask Liev Schreiber to be her husband in The Perfect Couple and she was like… of course!”

Talking to Entertainment Weekly during the Toronto International Film Festival, Watts said: “We always check in, we’re besties. That was very kind of her to do that.”

Despite admitting she hadn’t watched the series yet, her best friend seemingly getting it on with her ex isn’t going to bother her enough not to tune in.

She said: “I’m desperate to [watch] because everyone is raving about it.

“It just launched, what, two days ago. I’m very much looking forward to it. I have seen the trailer. It looks fantastic.”

Despite fans clocking onto the ‘uncomfortable’ vibe during the racy scenes, director Susanne Bier has actually explained it was intentional.

Speaking to the Metro, she said: “It’s sort of a little bit of an uncomfortable sex scene in there. It doesn’t feel entirely mutual in a way.

“But also, it was very conscious. We understand exactly what’s going on.”

In fact, it’s her business endevors away from Hollywood that have really helped her financial success.

Gertz and businessman husband Tony Ressler have used their wealth to invest in sports teams and are part owners of the NBA‘s Atlanta Hawks. They’re also minority owners of the baseball team Milwaukee Beavers.

Ressler himself has a net worth of $10.5 billion, as per Forbes, largely thanks to his two finance firms, Apollo Global Management and Ares Management.

The couple wed in 1989, with Ressler founding Apollo Global a year later and starting up Ares in 1997.

Gertz told The Hollywood Reporter in 2018 that ‘everyone thinks I married a rich guy’ but that she made ‘way more’ money than Ressler when she met him.

“I paid for our first vacation. I married him because I fell in love with him,” she said.

So, how much did Gertz make from her acting career alone?

First, let’s look at the movies…

According to figures from industry talent website Backstage, main cast members are expected to earn a minimum of $65,000 per shoot.

Gertz featured in the main cast of around 15 movies, so doing the math, she would’ve made at least $975,000 from those appearances alone.

She had minor roles in 13 movies, so, assuming each appearance took an average of two days to shoot, she would’ve got paid a minimum rate of $3,000, according to the Backstage figures.

This would’ve made her $39,000 – bringing her grand total earned through films to a decent $1,014,000.

Gertz made 174 TV episode appearances, 123 of these as the lead or part of the main cast. The figures for these are harder to calculate, as usually, series actors are paid weekly rather than episodically.

Backstage calculates that series regulars are paid $5,364 per week for shooting six episodes of half-hour programs – which works out as just $894 per episode.

Applying that shooting schedule to Jami’s 123 leading episodes, she could’ve made $109,962.

However, it’s likely she’d have been paid a lot more than this, especially for shows like The Neighbors and Still Standing, for which she was cast as the central character.

She then made minor appearances in 51 other show episodes.

Backstage figures say actors are paid $1,158 for one-off, one-day shoots – so, assuming, again, that each appearance took just one day to film, she’d have earned $59,058 from those, bringing the total she’d have made from TV shows to $169,020.

For all of her film and TV roles combined, Gertz would have made a minimum of $1,183,020.

This figure is just 0.039 percent of her total net worth today.

The calculations don’t take into account royalty payments, commission or inflation, so the total number is likely to be even larger – but even then, it’s unlikely to scratch the surface of her current wealth.

Fans hailed the miniseries a ’10/10′ (Netflix)

It’s an eight-episode thriller which released four years ago that still has viewers raving today.

Called Clickbait, it follows perfect father Nick Brewer (Adrian Grenier) who goes missing, only to appear in a viral video holding a cryptic sign that says he’ll die if the clip racks up five million views.

As his devastated family – his sister Sophie (Betty Gabriel), his wife Pia (Zoe Kazan) and their children Ethan and Kai (Camaron Engels and Jaylin Fletcher) – desperately try to stop the mystery before time runs out, deep-buried secrets of their own begin to unravel.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), fans have admitted to binge-watching the miniseries in no time at all.

One wrote: “I just finished Clickbait on Netflix in one sitting. I don’t think I’ve ever watched something where I sincerely believed everyone was [a suspect] at one point…”

A second wrote: “Clickbait on Netflix was a 10/10,” with countless other fans in agreement.

A third chipped in: “This is probably the best Netflix series in recent memory.

“I had to binge watch cause every episode is so good! No filler episodes. I swear this won’t disappoint.”

Over on Rotten Tomatoes, the series earned rather average scores from both critics and audience members – a 59 percent and 63 percent respectively.

But not everyone agreed with Clickbait’s ratings, as one fan, who’d finished up the drama only a few weeks ago, left a glowing review.

They said: “I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.

“Pulled an all nighter to binge the whole season in one sitting… This is the epitome of perfect thriller in my opinion.”

A second agreed: “This is one of the best Netflix series in recent years. It has a cleverly constructed plot that will keep you guessing right to the end.”

A third, condemning the poor scores, agreed, adding: “Zoe Kazan is absolutely phenomenal… [The show] did a great job in keeping you hooked, there are no episodes that are ‘slow,’… absolutely worth the watch.”
