People left fuming over ‘worst award show ever’ as they realize AMAs have skipped major parts of ceremony

The American Music Awards left many viewers disappointed

The American Music Awards’ highly anticipated return doesn’t look to have gone as well as planned.

The AMAs have been running since the 1970s and recently took a two-year hiatus, making its momentous return this year.

The night saw Jennifer Lopez as host, while the likes of Sir Rod Stewart, Reneé Rapp, Gwen Stefani, and Janet Jackson all took to the stage to perform.

Away from the host and performers though, there was something missing from the awards — the usual cohort of celebrities that attend the ceremony.

In fact, some viewers were adamant that there were more influencers at the AMAs than usual and questioned where the usual A-listers were.

The likes of Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, and Billie Eilish were all up for awards, none of whom were in attendance during the evening in Las Vegas.

Adding to fans’ disappointment, several of the night’s biggest awards weren’t actually aired. With this in mind, many people have hailed this year’s AMAs as ‘the worst ever’.

“The #AMAS WAS HORRIBLE AND VERY BORING,” said one critic on social media.

“The #AMAs deciding not to televise 90% of the major categories because none of the nominees bothered to show up is kinda the most insane thing to happen in award show history,” fumed another.

Another person penned: “The worst ‘award show’ I’ve ever watched. Not announcing the biggest categories is such a scam.”

Somebody else said that aside from Mean Girls star Rapp’s performance, the whole night was ‘the most boring award show [they] have ever watched’.

Awards that weren’t announced during the broadcast included Album of The Year (which went to Billie Eilish for Hit Me Hard and Soft) and Favorite Male Pop Artist (awarded to Bruno Mars).

Jennifer Lopez has taken a leaf out of Britney Spears and Madonna’s book and kissed a fellow performer on stage.

Back in 2008, Madonna and Spears shared a kiss at the MTV Video Music Awards, and J.Lo has since followed suit.

Taking to the America Music Awards stage this evening (May 26), the ‘Lets Get Loud’ hitmaker kissed one of her dancers and left her fans floored.

“JLo kissing her back-up dancer. B*TCH WE WON,” one person said in apparent support of the same-sex kiss.

Another person said of the moment while refer to Katy Perry’s song: “SHE KISSED A GIRL AND SHE LIKED IT!”

See the moment here:

Others noted that Spears and Madonna did it first. Someone said: “Madonna already did this years ago.” A second argued: “Britney did it first!”

“Trying to be madonna & britney so bad,” said a third.

Away from the kiss, other AMAs viewers took the time to applaud Lopez for her performance.

“Not a huge fan of her, but, this was extraordinary,” one person said.

A different person gushed: “I have no words… I’m literally in tears. @JLo didn’t just perform — she slayed with every step, every look. She poured her soul on that stage and left it in flames. I felt everything.”

AMAs fans confused after watching Heidi Klum’s bizarre interaction with Benson Boone before tripping over dress

The two famous faces are in Las Vegas for tonight’s American Music Awards

Fans have raised their eyebrows at the way Heidi Klum seemed to greet Benson Boone on the red carpet.

The two celebrities are amongst the many famous faces to attend this evening’s awards and, like all star-studded events, took to the red carpet before the ceremony.

Benson Boone, who is nominated for Favorite Music Video and Song Of The Year for his well-loved single ‘Beautiful Things’, rocked up in a green tailored outfit paired with a white, deep V shirt.

As he posed for snaps at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas, supermodel Heidi Klum as stood nearby, and when she clocked him she did something rather unusual.

Turning to the 22-year-old, she made her way over to him and pulled on his trouser leg as if trying to rip it. Making matters even worse, Klum then tripped over the train of her dress as she made her way back over to the spot on the carpet to pose for photographers.

As you can expect, people have questions about Klum’s actions. One person penned on Twitter alongside a clip of unusual meeting: “WTF ??????”

“Heidi Klum trying to throw off Benson Boone’s clothes again hahaha,” added a second.

Others noted Klum’s near-fall, writing: “heidi klum tripping over her dress while running away from benson boone this is POP CULTURE.”

Someone replied to the post: “but why did she try to pull off his pants?”

Well, for those of you who watched the Grammys earlier this year, you might recall that Klum and Nikki Glaser were tasked with pulling off Boone’s suit ahead of his performance where he donned that very tight-fitting jumpsuit.

See the moment here:

It was so tight that at once stage Boone had to adjust himself — and it’s safe to say the moment did not go unnoticed, so much so he publicly apologized afterwards.

Stating that his outfit was ‘extremely restricting’ in ‘certain areas’, Boone said: “Sorry for adjusting my jumpsuit so aggressively on stage tonight that thing was extremely restricting in certain areas.”

We’ve all been there, Benny…

‘Blue Scrotum’ performance leaves Olympic viewers shocked in what they say was the ‘worst opening ceremony ever’

“Who had seeing a blue scrotum on their Olympic opening ceremony bingo card?”

Poppy Bilderbeck

Viewers of the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony are in disbelief after seeing a ‘blue scrotum’ appear on screen.

Social media users may’ve taken to their keyboards in rage over the sound quality of Lady Gaga’s performance, but thankfully for her, the singer’s alleged technical difficulties have been overshadowed by the appearance of a ‘blue scrotum’ who appeared on top of a platter of fruit during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics in France.

If you don’t believe me, take a look for yourself:

A clip of the performance has been widely circulated online, showing a gold plated domed lid rising into the air to reveal a platter of fruit with a man, painted completely blue with a bright yellow beard, wearing a crown of fruit on his head and wreath around his waist. Other than that, seeming pretty much naked.

Lying down with one leg propped up, he then lifts up a microphone and begins to sing.

And it’s not taken long for viewers to flood to Twitter to weigh in.

One user said: “Who had seeing a blue scrotum on their Olympic opening ceremony bingo card. For teenagers of the 90s this is like Eurotrash the movie. Incroyable.”

“Poppa Smurf when he was younger,” another added.

A third commented: “Horrific.”

“Right because I’ve always wondered what a blue scrotum looks like exactly I’m pretty sure the whole sane world let out a collective gasp at the sights and sounds of this depravity on display. Paris should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this and expecting the world to applaud this grossness,” a fourth wrote.

A fifth questioned: “That supposed to be Zeus?”

“I think Zeus would be offended. People are calling him a blue scrotum, which is probably closer to the truth,” another replied.

Sadly for Paris, it wasn’t just the ‘blue scrotum’, which led to bad reviews raining in online either.

A user wrote: “This is the worst Olympic opening ceremony I have ever seen, it’s actually embarrassing. It is NOTHING to do with the sports and athletes, it’s just some random dancers getting all the airtime and the athletes get maybe five seconds per country? Ridiculous!!!”

“Am I the only one who thinks that the #OpeningCeremony is absolutely awful? What is actually going on?There is no coordination and everything is just messy. It’s like it’s been put together in seven days not seven years. The worst Opening Ceremony for an Olympics #Paris2024#OlympicGames,” a second added.

And a third resolved: “This has to be the worst, most pathetic, cringe worthy and embarrassing attempt at an opening ceremony I could ever imagine..”

So, what do you think?

Will Smith debuts new gospel tune in first award show appearance since infamous Chris Rock Oscars slap

Two years on from THAT slap, Will Smith has taken to the stage to debut his new single

Joe Yates

Joe Yates

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Will Smith on stage, so was the wait worth it? Yeah it was.

Two years ago, the Fresh Prince’s world went spiralling out of control after he stormed the stage during Chris Rock‘s presentation at the Oscars in 2022 and slapped him across the face.

It happened at the awards ceremony just before Smith picked up an illusive Academy Award – which he had only been nominated for twice before – for Best Actor for his part in King Richard.

A while has passed since it happened, so let’s go over it again – the then 53-year-old was sat in the audience with wife Jada Pinkett Smith when host Rock made a joke about her being bald.

Pinkett Smith suffers from alopecia areata, an autoimmune condition that causes hair to fall out.

Rock joked during his monologue: “Jada, I love you, GI Jane two, can’t wait to see it!” – which referenced the 1997 film GI Jane, where the lead actress shaved off her hair to join the military.

The line drew some laughs from the crowd, including Smith himself, before he realized his wife did not find it funny and in turn, marched on stage to slap Rock before yelling: “Keep my wife’s name out of your f**king mouth.”

It wouldn’t be until a few months later when Smith would issue a public apology to Rock via a YouTube video, with him saying: “I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behaviour was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.”

As a consequence for his actions, the Men in Black actor was banned from attending the Oscars for the next 10 years.

However, Smith has gotten ‘jiggy wit it’ once more after he was invited on stage at the recent BET Awards, an American award show created by the Black Entertainment Television network.

The awards celebrate Black entertainers and other minorities in music, film, sports and philanthropy.

He wowed the crowd on Sunday night (30 June) as he performed his new single ‘You Can Make It’ alongside the Sunday Service Choir and Haitian-American singer Fridayy.

Smith, who in 1989 won the first hip-hop Grammy with DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince for Best Rap Performance with their 1988 hit single ‘Parents Just Don’t Understand’, rapped about being ‘broken and tired’.

In his first lines, he sang: “You are in the smoke and the fire, tight rope on the wire; I see you’re broken and tired, and all your hope is expired; you’re just done with the change and the games and the shame.”

The emotion poured out from Smith, who could have been mistaken for a preacher – fitting with the Sunday Service Choir behind him.

He continued in his second verse to rap about how ‘they tried to bleed Will Smith’ and how he endured ‘the darkest of nights’, before adding ‘every storm runs out of rain, hold on’.

The powerful hit single brings a raw Smith to the table, and while the onus on forgiving Smith must come from Rock, you can definitely see he understands what he did was wrong.

‘You Can Make It’ can be streamed on Apple Music and Spotify now.
