People disgusted as Trump has ‘vile’ response when asked about murder of Democratic lawmaker

People have hit back at Trump for his incompassionate response

Donald Trump has faced a fierce backlash online for his answer when asked about the recent murder of a Democratic lawmaker and her husband.

Minnesota and the wider United States were left stunned after it was confirmed that Melissa Hortman, 55, and John Hoffman, 60, and their spouses were attacked by a shooter at their homes.

The attack took place over the weekend, and authorities already have a suspect in custody.

The attack killed Minnesota Rep. Hortman and her husband Mark, while Senator Hoffman and his wife Yvette remain in hospital.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and former VP pick to presidential candidate Kamala Harris branded the shootings as being ‘politically motivated’ and condemned the attack.

He said: “Hortman was someone who served the people of Minnesota with grace, compassion, humor, and a sense of service.

“She was a formidable public servant. A fixture and a giant in Minnesota.”

However, when questioned by reporters about the incident and whether he would be speaking to Walz, Donald Trump had a less compassionate answer.

Referring to Walz, he said: “I think the governor of Minnesota is so whacked out. I’m not calling him.

“Why would I call him? I could call and say, ‘Hi, how you doing?’ Uh, the guy doesn’t have a clue. He’s a mess. I could be nice and call, but why waste time?”

The spokesperson for Walz, Teddy Tschann, hit back at Trump’s comments later that day.

They said: “Gov. Walz wishes that President Trump would be a President for all Americans, but this tragedy isn’t about Trump or Walz. It’s about the Hortman family, the Hoffman family, and the State of Minnesota, and the Governor remains focused on helping all three heal.”

People online had a similar reaction and condemned Trump for his comments.

One furious user on Reddit wrote: “What a vile POS Trump is.”

Another frustrated person added: “A state senator is MURDERED and Trump won’t speak to the leaders of that state. The amount of damage he continues to do to our society is astounding. He’s the most un-American leader we’ve EVER had.”

A third commented: “Beyond despicable. I can’t imagine any other president being so callous. Trump is the epitome of a narcissist, zero empathy. POS.”

While another said: “If they were GOP that were shot/killed, Trump wouldn’t care about them but he would use that to try and further divide us, but since they were just Dems, no big deal, he wasn’t affected in any way. Don’t forget, this is the ‘what’s in it for me’ administration.”

With a fifth person writing: “I know we say this all the time, but imagine if Biden or Obama had said that about a sitting governor when they were President. The outcry would have been through the roof. Trump had developed his own norms so it’s not even questioned anymore.”

UNILAD has reached out to the White House for comment.

Donald Trump appeared a little flustered when asked about actors who reportedly chose to boycott his attendance following a decision he made for the Kennedy Center theatre.

Donald Trump’s attendance of Les Misérables at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington DC, last night (11 June) was likely more controversial than he would have liked.

The president attracted both his supporters and critics at the event, and was asked by reporters whether he was aware of or cared about potential boycotts.

Ahead of the show, it was rumored that cast members planned to walk off the stage in protest of his attendance. Four drag performers even showed up at the venue to show their visibility following Trump’s pledge to stop drag shows at that theatre.

Writing on social media in February, Trump said: “NO MORE DRAG SHOWS, OR OTHER ANTI-AMERICAN PROPAGANDA.”

At a recent dinner for the Kennedy Center Board, he added: “The programming was out of control with rampant political propaganda, [diversity, equity and inclusion] and inappropriate shows.”

However, when asked about it ahead of going into the showing on Wednesday, Trump boasted about his alleged accomplishments and how he handled the situation in Los Angeles.

He said: “I couldn’t care less, honestly, I couldn’t. All I do is run the country well.

“The economic numbers, you saw them today, they are setting records, we took 88 billion dollars in tariffs in two months, far beyond what anyone expected.

“There is no inflation, people are happy, people are wealthy, the country is getting back to strength again, that is what I care about. And we are going to have a safe country, we are not going to have what would have happened in Los Angeles.

“Remember, if I wasn’t there, if I didn’t act quickly on that, Los Angeles would be burning to the ground right now.”

These comments came before the president was both ‘cheered and booed’ at the Kennedy Center, according to Reuters White House Correspondent Jeff Mason.

On social media, many people remarked at how Trump’s reply was rather odd with some alleging he was masking his frustration.

Another said: “When you have to tell people you ‘run the country well’ …you’re not running the country well.”

Another said: “Once he gets hold of the actors’ names who plan on boycotting, he’ll mention them non-stop in his 3 am posts for weeks. Let’s see … the insults will include ‘overrated’, ‘fake’, ‘not good looking’, ‘mediocre’, ‘untalented’.”

And a third added: “Trump’s indifference is just another sign he’s losing grip — on politics, on reality.”

With another writing: “When he finds out who boycotts he’ll attack them on social media.”

People have pointed out the irony of Donald Trump falling up the stairs to Air Force One after he previously mocked Joe Biden for doing the same thing.

Trump, who will be celebrating his 79th birthday in just a few days time, climbed aboard his presidential jet yesterday (June 8) alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio as the pair mad their way to Maryland’s Camp David.

On his way up the stairs Trump took a tumble but quickly caught himself after doing so. He didn’t look back afterwards and acted as if nothing happened.

Funnily enough Rubio followed suit and stumbled on the stairs as well.

While Trump tried to shrug the moment off, people online weren’t letting it slide and pointed out that the president called out Biden for doing the same thing.

Speaking in 2023, the now-president said: “Joe Biden can’t even walk up a flight of stairs on Air Force One and he can’t put two sentences together. […] We have somebody that doesn’t have a clue representing us.”

Fast forward two years and it’s now Trump that’s being mocked for the same thing.

“I’m surprised he hasn’t replaced those stairs with a portable escalator of some kind,” one person quipped on Twitter, as another penned: “When do they get the wheelchair for him? Someone ask Jake Tapper to find out.”

“Time to get Old Man Trump fitted for a wheelchair,” added a third.

Taking to Reddit, a different person penned: “He must ‘step’ down immediately…That was the bar for stepping down for Biden, right?”

Others came to Trump’s defense though, and insisted that the minor stumble wasn’t a big deal.

“I stumbled walking the stairs to a concert last night. Sh*t happens,” someone said.

“That’s a steep climb for anyone,” argued somebody else. “He recovered nicely. I give him an 8.5 for the recovery.”

Echoing similar sentiments, a different Twitter user said that Trump took the fall ‘like a champ’.

Arguably, the president has bigger fish to fry than a minor stumble amid the riots in Los Angeles and his very public fallout with Elon Musk.

Trump’s feud has been playing out on social media for all of the world to see as the pair continue to take swipes at one another.

In one of the latest developments, Musk made a U-turn on his accusations about Trump being in the Jeffrey Epstein files and deleted his bombshell tweet.

Ivanka Trump has brutal three-word response when asked about plans to avoid the White House

The President-elect’s daughter has some interesting thoughts on politics

Ivanka Trump has issued a brutal three-word response when she was asked if she had any plans to help out in the White House.

The 43-year-old businesswoman was a senior advisor in her father Donald Trump’s first administration as president between 2017 and 2021, and also assumed a high role as director of the Office of Economic Initiatives and Entrepreneurship.

Ivanka was present at the rally her father hosted outside the White House before a mob of his supporters stormed the US Capitol and then, mysteriously, was nowhere to be seen on Trump’s campaign trail last year.

The former aide had previously confirmed that she and her husband, Jared Kushner, who also served as a senior advisor in the Trump White House, would be leaving Washington for sunnier shores in Florida, closing the door on politics to pursue their family life.

At the time, Ivanka said: “While I will always love and support my father, going forward I will do so outside the political arena.”

Now, it appears Ivanka is sticking to her guns and has zero intention of helping her father out during his second administration, which he is due to take over on Monday (January 20).

Appearing on The Skinny Confidential’s Him & Her Show on Tuesday (January 14), Trump’s eldest daughter issued a brutal response when asked why she is steering clear of Washington.

Ivanka explained: “I love policy and impact. I hate politics. And unfortunately, the two are not separable.”

She continued: “There is a darkness to that world that I don’t really want to welcome into mine.

“To some degree, I’m at the center of the storm because my father is about to be president, but it’s a very dark, negative business. And some people love the gladiator aspect of it – the fight. That was never me.”

The couple and their three children moved to Florida after Trump’s 2020 election loss, which she suggested was in her hindsight of knowing the true ‘cost’ of serving for her country.

“It’s a price that I’m not willing to make my kids bear,” she added, and said she missed out on some ‘really critical moments’.

“My primary goals were just to like, be the best freaking mom,” Ivanka reaffirmed.

Despite distancing herself from politics, Ivanka said she still intends to ‘show up’ for her dad – but just as a daughter rather than an aide.

She continued: “I think I’m most looking forward to just being able to show up for him as a daughter and be there for him to take his mind off things, to watch a movie with him, or watch a sports game.

“To know that he can be with me, and be himself and just relax and for me to be able to provide that for him in a very loving way as his daughter.

“It’s the world’s loneliest position – the enormity of the decisions you’re making on a daily basis, how transactional everyone is with you.”

Donald Trump has surprising response as he’s asked about Vice President JD Vance’s future in politics

JD Vance has not always been a fan of Trump

Callum Jones

Donald Trump has had his say on whether Vice President JD Vance could become his successor in the 2028 presidential elections.

When President Trump was first elected in 2016, he had running mate Mike Pence alongside him, with whom he continued with throughout his 2020 presidential bid.

But after the 47th POTUS lost to Joe Biden and the subsequent January 6 Capitol riots wreaked havoc, Trump and Pence had a falling out, and it was Vance who Trump ultimately decided to have as his running mate for the 2024 elections.

And after beating Kamala Harris to the White House, Vance, who served as served as Ohio’s senator, was made vice president.

With Trump unable to run again for president in 2028, many have viewed Vance as the favorite to be the Republican candidate.

However, Trump seemingly does not see it that way.

The 78-year-old was asked about his vice president in an interview with Fox News filmed ahead of the Super Bowl last Sunday (February 9).

“Do you view Vice President JD Vance as your successor, the Republican nominee in 2028?” Trump was asked by Bret Baier.

The president’s response was certainly surprising, as he replied: “No, but he’s very capable.

“I mean, I don’t think that it, you know, I think you have a lot of very capable people. So far, I think he’s doing a fantastic job. It’s too early, we’re just starting.”

While Vance and Trump may be in government together, the latter has not always been a fan of his boss.

Quite the opposite, in fact.

The VP previously said: “I’m a ‘never Trump’ guy. I never liked him. My god what an idiot. I find him reprehensible.”

Vance remained skeptical of his now boss until late 2020, according to text messages obtained by the Washington Post.

Of course, the VP has since done a 180 on his views and is currently on his first foreign trip as Trump’s right-hand man.

He is speaking to world leaders at an AI summit in Paris and the Munich Security Conference, where he is set to meet French President Emmanuel Macron.

Speaking of the trip, Vance told Breitbart last week: “At the AI Summit, the main reason I’m going is actually to have some private conversations with the world leaders who are also going to be there.

“I think there’s a lot that some of the leaders who are present at the AI summit could do to, frankly, bring the Russia-Ukraine conflict to a close, help us diplomatically there.”
