Netflix fans are obsessed with a new medical drama which they say is ‘worth the hype.’
The streaming service has added some absolute bangers to its catalogue recently, including a ‘new instant favorite’ TV series which has 97% Rotten Tomatoes score and a ‘truly entertaining’ 90s US sitcom featuring Pamela Anderson.
But if the drama of a bustling hospital is more your scene, then you’re in for a treat with Netflix’s latest South Korean drama.
Currently charting at number three on the streamer’s world TV charts, fans have hailed it a ’10/10′.
The eight-parter stars Ju Ji-hoon as highly-skilled surgeon Baek Kang-hyuk, who’s sent to shake-up a struggling trauma unit.

Having cut his teeth in conflict zones, Baek’s unorthodox methods – and borderline arrogance – initially irk the team at Hankuk University Hospital in Seoul.
But, with people’s lives at stake, Baek gradually earns their respect as the team pulls together to transform the trauma unit.
Choo Young Woo, Ha Young, Jung Jae-kwang, Kim Jae-won and Kim Sun-young also feature in the TV show.
The series in question is called The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call and is based on the 2019 webtoon Trauma Center: Golden Hour.
You can watch the Netflix series trailer below.
Fans have been singing the show’s praises over on social media, as one person raved: “The Trauma Code on Netflix is a proof that people would eat up all episodes— which they dropped all at the same time— and enjoy watching it like a marathon!! The plot, pace, cast and their execution of their roles are all hands down amazing… 10/10 would recommend.”
A second, also posting to X, enthused: “Just finished binging Trauma Code and oh man it’s a must watch… eight eps weren’t enough we need more.”
A third chipped in: “just finished binge watching Trauma Code on Netflix and it is so worth the hype rn pls go watch it!!”
A fourth gave their verdict: “Action sequences were not dragged out. Neat and tidy. Plus the 8 episode format helped it really keep it short and entertaining and left me asking for more.”
Will there be a Trauma Code season two?

There’s clearly demand for it, but Trauma Code is yet to be renewed for a second season by Netflix.
But, speaking to Korean media outlet Chosun Biz, director Lee Do-Yoon teased the potential for another instalment.
“I don’t know what will happen tomorrow, so I don’t know if I will do it or who will take charge of season two, but I have prepared my own devices just in case,” he said.

If you’re on the lookout for your next binge-worthy series, look no further than Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen series, which landed on Netflix earlier this week.
You’d be forgiven for being a little confused, given that Ritchie already has a film on the streaming service under the same moniker, but while the filmmaker revealed his new series comes from the same world as the hit film, its narrative is entirely unrelated.
Despite the initial confusion, the eight-episode series has already gone down a treat with viewers since its premiere on 7 March, with some even branding it a 10 out of 10.
Starring White Lotus’ Theo James, The Gentlemen series follows an English soldier, Eddie Halstead, who is surprised to learn he has inherited his family’s estate over his older brother, following the death of their father.
But what later becomes apparent, is that not only has he inherited the estate, but he has also inherited the huge weed empire that comes with it, despite never knowing it had existed previously.
Speaking to Netflix’s Tudum, James said of his character: “He realizes that the estate, this crumbling vestige of the British Empire, has been propped up by criminality.”
Eddie decides to set out on a mission to ‘extricate the family from the jaws of crime’, but quickly becomes entranced by the taste of true power that comes with it.

Netflix
Just days after its release, the series is rating at 73% on the Tomatometer, with an average Audience Score of 83%, but that score could be set to rise if the reviews in the Netflix Bangers Facebook group are anything to go by.
“Love it,” one impressed viewer wrote. “Both serious and hilarious that you don’t even realize you are watching a crime show.”
A second added: “So far it’s great. Best thing I’ve seen on Netflix for a while,” while a third simply wrote: “In my opinion, 10/10.”
A fourth added: “Only watched the first episode but it’s really good so far. Much needed new good quality content for Netflix.”
Meanwhile, others were quick to praise James’ performance, with some even going as far as touting him as the newest James Bond.
“This lad would be great as the new James Bond,” one wrote, while another responded: “100% both my husband and I said this.”

Netflix subscribers have been binge-watching an ‘instant favorite’ TV series which was scored with an impressive 97 percent by Rotten Tomatoes critics.
Some good old escapism might be in order to forget about the fact that we’re still – somehow – in January…
From an ‘outstanding 10/10’ miniseries fans have watched in a day, to a ‘hidden gem’ with an almost-perfect Rotten Tomatoes rating, the streaming platform has us covered.
But this new addition has been hailed an ‘instant favorite’ by fans who’ve been watching the TV series non-stop.
From Sex and the City and Emily in Paris creator Darren Star, the series boasts a star-studded cast including Hilary Duff, Sutton Foster, Miriam Shor, Nico Tortorella and Peter Hermann.

Sutton Foster stars in the ‘instant favorite’ TV series (TV Land)
It follows single mom Liza (Foster) who, at 40 years old, takes some serious measures to get back into her dream line of work.
A hair restyle, new make-up look and a fresh wardrobe later, Liza’s out here convincing everyone she’s 26.
As doors which were once jammed shut begin to swing open, her life drastically transforms – and chaos ensues.
Fans have hailed the series among the best they’ve ever watched – and if you’re looking a show you can really get into, this one is made up of seven seasons.
The more the better, right!?
The series in question is called Younger, and you can watch the trailer below:
Alongside the 97 percent rating, Rotten Tomatoes critics said: “Darren Star’s witty writing and Sutton Foster’s charisma help elevate Younger above some of TV Land’s previous sitcoms.”
Fans echoed critics’ sentiments, as one said: “One episode in, and I’m HOOKED!”
A second said: “This might quite honestly be the best show I’ve ever watched! I didn’t know that I would find a story about someone lying about their age so Damn interesting! I just can’t stop watching…”
A third admitted: “Honestly, the only reason I watched is that Hilary Duff is a main character, totally mesmerized by the whole setting, cast, and plot.”
As the series first debuted in 2015, some fans have taken its Netflix addition as an opportunity for a re-watch.

Hilary Duff also stars in Younger (TV Land)
One fan shared: “Instantly became my favorite show when it first aired and my love for it has only grown.”
A second added: “With clever writing, good acting and likeable characters all around, this is a show that shouldn’t be missed.”

Fans of a hospital drama have been wiping back tears as they get a chance to tune in to the popular show for its final season.
As we enter 2025, you know what that means – there’ll be new movies and TV shows for us to welcome the New Year.
That doesn’t mean to say that 2024 didn’t leave us out to dry, as many viewers were raving about a ‘unbelievable’ thriller and a true crime series that involves Barack Obama, an Elvis impersonator and a poison plot.
Netflix also ended the year by adding a hospital drama from 2018, which UK viewers were unable to watch – until now.

The NBC show recently arrived on Netflix (NBC)
The show is called New Amsterdam, and follows Dr Max Goodwin (Ryan Egghold) who joins one of the oldest public hospitals in New York as a medical director.
Unlike his predecessors, Goodwin is set on making some changes, rustling some feathers and doing all he can to remove bureaucracy, address neglect and ensure better care for its patients.
You can watch the trailer for season one here:
New Amsterdam concluded its fifth season at the start of 2023, however, it’s recent addition to the streaming platform has reinvigorated the love for the show on social media, with fans taking to Twitter to rave about it.
As you can imagine, the show often deals with sensitive subject matter and this has really resonated with some viewers, and some have gone as far to call the show ’11 out 10′.
One Twitter user joked: “My name is Rob and I’m a telly addict. I’ve just found New Amsterdam on Netflix. See you in a few weeks!

Another commented: “I introduced the wife to New Amsterdam on Netflix last night. I’ve seen most series already but 2 episodes in it already hits me in the feels.”
“Such a good series with so many heart string moments. I won’t lie though (no spoilers) I’m already prepping the tissues.”
Someone else commented that they ‘can’t get enough of this series’, while a fourth said: “New Amsterdam on Netflix 11 out of 10.”
A fifth viewer had high praise for the show’s overall premise, calling it an ‘amazing’ watch.
On Rotten Tomatoes, there isn’t a Tomatometer rating and it does hold a rather meh 50 percent popcorn meter rating. However, on IMDB, the show boasts a solid 8/10 following over 52,000 reviews.
So it might be worth binging yourself and seeing if the hospital antics resonate with you.

Netflix might be the world’s biggest streaming service, but once upon a time it almost met a totally different fate.
One major mistake saw the streamer lose almost one million subscribers in a single quarter, while tanking its stock price.
The launch of one particular series, however, propelled the company to new heights, with it being worth a huge $366 billion today.
Here’s how Netflix almost lost itself completely, and the incredible comeback that followed…
Netflix’s history pre-streaming

Netflix began life as a mail-order DVD service, founded by Marc Randolph and Reed Hastings in 1998.
Established in the midst of the dot com bubble, it offered a web-based catalogue of movies for subscribers to browse.
A year in, the CEOs implemented a subscription-based model, allowing customers to rent, receive and return unlimited discs per month by mail.
And by January 2002, the online DVD rental site had 500,000 subscribers, which increased to 700,000 by the end of the year.
That figure had grown more than five times over by 2005, with 3.6 million paying customers – so there was clear demand for DVD rental.
Move to online streaming

Streaming only became ‘a thing’ in the US in 2007 (Nanci Santos)
Netflix’s most popular feature – streaming – wasn’t launched until 2007, which is hard to imagine now. (The streamer didn’t launch in the UK until 2012, which is even harder to believe).
Anyway, 2007 marked the start of a shift away from the traditional DVD rental format.
But in 2011, Netflix made a major change which very much almost killed the business.

DVD and streaming subscriptions were separated, and their prices upped.
A $10 all-in-one package was now two $8-plans, effectively dropping a 60 percent price increase on customers – in the midst of a massive recession, no less.
For good measure, the company was then renamed Qwikster – not quite so catchy, is it?
Subscriber exodus
The change seriously angered customers and had a devastating impact on the business.
Qwikster lost 800,000 subscribers in a single quarter, while its stock price tanked by almost 80 percent, from $300 a share to $65 by the year’s end.
Bosses responded swiftly by scrapping the name and issuing a public apology. The damage was already done, though, and a tough 18 months followed.
How Netflix Originals saved the platform
In a bid to rebuild from its mistake, Netflix paid especially close attention to customers’ demands.
Among them was more original programming – and, boy, did the company deliver…
The company had started putting in the groundwork for its original TV shows in 2010, and by 2013, it was ready to bask in the fruits of its labor.
Its first ever original series, political thriller House of Cards, released that April, earning critical acclaim and numerous award nominations.
Its formula – an intense drama, plus big Hollywood names like Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright – was a winner.
Jonathan Friedland, the company’s chief communications officer, told the New York Times that ‘because we have a direct relationship with consumers, we know what people like to watch, and that helps us understand how big the interest is going to be for a given show.’
He added: “It gave us some confidence that we could find an audience for a show like House of Cards.”
The Originals legacy
House of Cards proved that big names – and even bigger budgets – were yielding success for the platform.
People were willing to sign up for quality, original content and the proof was in the numbers.
The platform gained 9.9 million subscribers the year House of Cards debuted, bringing its total number to 35.6 million.

2016’s Stranger Things was a major success for the platform (Netflix)
Now, around 55 percent of its US library is made up of original content, including Stranger Things, The Crown, Orange is the New Black and Squid Game.
In fact, the top 10 most-streamed Netflix shows of all time are all originals.
The company shows no signs of slowing down, either.
Last summer, it gained a further eight million subscribers, partly off the back of the successes of Bridgeton season three and British thriller Baby Reindeer.
And as of September 2024, Netflix had 282.7 million paid subscribers worldwide, while its share price is currently $863.60 – a far cry from its 2011 crash.
